Nick Foligno on doing your job and taking what you are given

Nick Foligno takes whatever position the coach gives him, left wing or right wing or center. He's focused on doing his job and helping teammates, though he wants to get off the goose egg in the goal column. His kids shoot both ways, which makes buying hockey sticks complicated.

I believe. Yep. Did Butchie confirm that? Okay. All right. Don't get me in trouble, please. I'm new. I'm new. Yeah, I believe that. Yeah, that's what it's going to look like today. So I'm excited obviously to play on the left side and just, you know, do my part, help the team. That's. That's all. That's all we ask of anybody. So wherever, wherever you're put, you just got to do your job. I mean, I'm hopeful. I actually like where my game's trending right now. I felt like the first few obviously just getting timing and everything back. So. Listen, I know there's a goose egg in the goal column, but I'm planning on rectifying that and I know I can, so. But I think also too, you can't get caught up in that stuff. I play the game a certain way and I think I bring value in other aspects. But one of them, one area that I do want to help in is obviously offensively. So I think if I continue to trend the way I feel I am, those looks are going to open up and those opportunities to help either myself or my teammates score is all I ask. So I'm excited to play with those two guys today and we're gonna, you know, get to work. Obviously, it's gonna be more of a simple approach and, and helping each other as we get to know each other, but we can be an effective one.
I'm sure there's analytics out there that would tell me this, and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to access it, but if you look at your whole career games at left wing, center, right wing, what would be your guess in.
Terms of the distribution of, like, play 20% of where. Yeah, yeah, I don't even know. I've played so much all over the place that I mean, I think I'm just comfortable wherever I think I've grown to be a player that is just, you know, understands that they're, you know, if the coach is putting you in a situation, it's first of all, they have trust in you in that spot and, you know, go out and do your job. And I think I'm just confident in playing so many years and, you know, growing my game into a player that can play anywhere. It's something I take a lot of pride in. So, you know, left side is obviously a more natural player for a play position to play, obviously for a left winger or left handed shot. You know, I probably had more success in the left spot. Just naturally as a player. But I mean, I've enjoyed the right side too and some of the things you can get and develop off of that and obviously center as well. So like I said, I know it sounds cliche and it's probably annoying to hear, but I just, I've grown to where the coach needs you. It's usually a sign of responsibility and trust. And so when they're putting you in that position, it's go out and do your job and help the guys around you to have success. And I, I think that's the team mentality we all have. Yeah. You know, probably the only position is center. There's just a few more things that responsibilities that you have to think about and obviously do down low and you're usually the guy that's breaking us out and helping the D. And so maybe that's the only position that I'd say you have to think more. But obviously as a winger, you're usually on first on the forecheck or getting pucks with speed and trying to make something happen with that. So, you know, I'm. Like I said, I'm looking forward to just helping the team where I'm needed and you know, and trying to be a good line tonight that we, you know, I feel we can be. Yeah. Yeah. Tried ugly. My son. It's crazy. Both my kids are. They shoot right and my son right's left handed, so. Messes me up. Screws me up for hockey sticks too. I have to go out and buy sticks now or steal them from the other guys.
And have you figured out lots of traffic?
Slowly. Yeah. I still don't understand why the 93 is always so busy. It's crazy. But, but learning, enjoying it. Walking a lot. It's nice.
