Gio demos how Schematic's unsubscribe button helps software companies comply with the FTC's Click to Cancel rule. Users can cancel from their portal and keep access through the current billing period. The tool also lets companies offer retention discounts and collect exit feedback.

Hey, it's Gio. Last year, the FTC announced this new rule called "Click to Cancel," and it requires software companies to make it really easy to unsubscribe from their service. No need to send in an email or make a call. It should just be self-service, easy to do. We agree with this, so we made it really easy to do with Schematic. Now, I'm running my test app here, my weather app, and this is the portal that my users see. They can of course see their usage, upgrade, downgrade, and all that. But what you can't see is an easy way to just unsubscribe. Let me add that. Now I'm gonna manage my portal here within Schematic. I'm actually gonna go ahead and preview as that company just to see exactly what they see. And I'm gonna drop in this unsubscribe button. Here we go. I don't want it to compete with my change plan button. I'm gonna make it a little more deemphasized. Here we go. Make it secondary, um, style. I'm gonna make it smaller. I'm also gonna rename it to cancel subscription. Here we go. And then I'll save that. Great. I'm done. Now, if I go back to the portal and I'm my user here, I can see the cancel subscription button. I can click that and you can see this confirmation screen. We show you that you'll keep your plan until the end of the billing period. This is the plan you'll be losing. There's a button to go manage the plan if you want to just not cancel or maybe even upgrade. But let's go ahead and go through this flow. We'll also be adding more to this over time. We'll be adding things like offboarding questions, um, and maybe the ability to, to have a discount here. So maybe offer 10% off to keep the user, uh, retained. But we'll go ahead and finish the cancellation. And you can see here in the portal now my subscription is canceled, but I'll keep access to my plan until the end of my billing period. So there you go. That's how you can make it really easy to unsubscribe with Schematic.
