Supabase caps usage by default and requires customers to opt in to pay-as-you-go billing. Most platforms do the opposite, letting costs run until you manually set limits. The company explains this clearly in their FAQ.

There's so much here that's so interesting. I don't, there's very few companies we've looked at that go to such lengths to be so transparent about how they bill, right? And how they sort of construct billing. The other thing that I didn't mention earlier that is notable is if you go to the very bottom and you look at cost control, the FAQ on cost control, can I cap my usage so my bill doesn't run over? What you'll notice is they're opt-out on cost control. Um, and that's incredible, right? They basically, they say, look, everyone's on cost control unless you really want to be subject to usage-based billing.
