Gary Hilborn finally landed a Law & Order role after twenty years of auditions and callbacks. He appeared on Law & Order: Organized Crime opposite Christopher Meloni, a milestone he calls a rite of passage for New York actors.
Getting on Law Order is a rite of passage for New York actors. It took me years to get there. Yeah, but you bringing him in before I'm done with my investigation could screw our case.
Look, I have an associate of Russo's at Rikers right now who can pin him down for conspiracy and capital murder.
Are you willing to share him with us? He'll tell you anything you want. All right. We have a wire in his social club. Mm-hmm. The Orion in Brooklyn. Yeah. He's getting a root canal at his dentist on Park and 50th at 3:30. It's a Saturday. He keeps mafia hours. Of course he does. So I auditioned for Law Order, every iteration of the show, so many times, probably for 20 years. And casting was great. They brought me in all the time. Eventually, they were just bringing me straight to callbacks. Now cut to after the pandemic, I don't know, a few years ago, 2022, I think it was that I did this. And finally it came through. And actually casting sent a note to my managers once we closed the deal to say, we just wanna thank Gary for hanging in there with us all these years and we're glad we could finally make it happen. Plus I got to work with Christopher Maloney, so win.
