LA Tech Week: Unicorn Sightings on the Eastside

Tech founders and investors discuss building startups and community in LA's Eastside. They emphasize strong development teams, local networking events, and why investing in emerging technology matters for the region's growth.
This is our Unicorn Sightings on the east side event. Really excited to have you here. We invest in emerging tech that helps uplift humanity. It's really about helping humanity reach its untapped potential.
When I'm going to do a tech play, it's so important that you've got badass developers from day one. My favorite thing about being a founder is definitely building a community of people who are passionate about what they're doing. Being at the forefront of seeing, seeing all of these people come together to create something that we're all passionate about is a very unique experience that I can't take for granted. I love it. It's awesome doing something on the east side. Right away you're helping the community of founders that are right here in Burbank, Los Vila, Silver Lake, the whole nine yards. It's amazing. Connecting with other founders in the area makes all of our lives so much easier. And also learning that the city of Burbank has such amazing resources. If we plan to start a company.
Here, our goal is to touch the lives of a across the world with investments we make.
My key advice is find a problem that actually needs to be solved. Develop that solution, but not forever. Get it out to a customer early and get that feedback. And the more you're getting it in front of customer, getting feedback and able to iterate on your idea, the farther you're going to go for a long term sustainable business that could be backed by investors. So I would say making sure I've got a really strong CTO and some really good developers out of the gate, you can do anything with that, anything. So events like this are really great for outing people that are in the community, want to be supportive of community or want to get involved with community. These events really can start for a lot of people that are not in the business. Begin the sort of the beginnings of your network. To me, the tech guys are the rock stars of the world, full stop. Like they are.
