So it's great to be with you. We are going to talk about attitude booster number 10, which is be a part of something bigger than you. And I just got off the phone with a dear friend of mine named Bill and Bill has a wife named Bonita. And I asked Bill to come and do something for one of the properties that we are currently selling right now. And he said, Glenn, unfortunately I'm going to be unable to be there. I said, what is going on? He said, I'm leaving for New York. And I went, holy Lord, who in the world would be driving to New York? Well, people that understand attitude booster number 10 do. People that understand that they are a part of something bigger than them. Bill's wife Bonita is a nurse. She works at an agency and she got a phone call this morning and they said, we need you in New York, in Queens, New York. So Bill and Bonita are packing up their nice little home in Indianapolis, getting in an rv, driving to New York. Bill is going to remain in the RV at a parking lot of a hospital. Bonita is going to go on the front lines and cure people. My question is, what are you doing today that is bigger than yourself? And what would you do if you got a call that said you need to go to New York and get on the front lines and start healing people? I mean, can you imagine actually driving to New York and being on the front lines? Well, that's what being a part of something bigger than you is all about. And we call those people heroes, right? So when we look at what do we do bigger than us, I'd love you to type in our chat box if you can. This is what I've done that's bigger than me. Here's what I've been a part of. But if we all want this hero status, Hero status comes from what? It's not from taking care of yourself. I've never met a hero that has only done one thing, which is taking care of himself. Heroes do for others. And today is really a reminder that, you know what, we are all in this together. This coronavirus is something I was on a phone call, I'm going to be doing a speaking virtual summit in India. The cases of Corona are much lower in India than they are in America, which I think is kind of funny. But you know what? What I'm doing here at the University of Attitude, look, it's bigger than me. It's about giving to you. It's about helping people understand that each one of us that is on this call affects people. Right? Your attitude affects people. And you can either affect them positively or negatively. And our hope is that it's positive. And my hope is that in the 13 minutes that we've spent every day, that I give you some ideas and I give you some exercises to be more positive, to feel more positive, to have a sense of accomplishment and. And be a part of something bigger than you. Hello. My friend Jason, he is in Italy. I hope everything is going well in Italy. Jason. Jason serves military families. He coaches their kids in sports. And that's fantastic. If you're on this call, we'd love you to just let us know what you're doing that's bigger than yourself. And the bottom line is, let's be honest, guys, if we want to have a positive attitude, if we want to have a feeling of fulfillment and of accomplishment, it all really stems from getting outside of ourselves and helping others. Hello, Paige. Good to see you. The next thing about doing something bigger than yourself, look at. You know, I know we can do this, but I think we just need to reflect on why. Why this is important. And I'm going to tell you why it's important. Because being a part of something, right, Connecting with people and is. It's a primal, primal emotion. It's something that we have to do. And the times that we are in right now in the coronavirus, and I see it on Facebook, I can't hug my grandkids. I can't hug my daughter. I cannot be with the people that I love. Our primal nature of feeling lonely, feeling separated, feeling isolated, this is not normal. And so we need to, number one, identify, recognize, and realize this. But number two, we cannot get outside of our mind and let things outside of our mind get in our mind and ruin our day, right? It is tough enough to isolate. Isolating is all about you. I have to isolate myself, and I'm all alone. So if you don't feel right, if you feel depressed, if you feel down, if you are like, what in the hell am I going to do? Well, my point is we need to start thinking of others, right? The people on this call are very positive people. Congratulations to you. If you like this, keep hitting your notifications because we're going to keep doing it. Please share this video if it helps. And we're talking about attitude booster number 10, be a part of something bigger than you. So look it, we got our community right here for the attitude workout every day, and I congratulate you to be here. Hopefully, you're not only here for yourself, right? Hopefully you're here for the other folks that are on the call, and you are here to support what we're doing, and hopefully you're getting some joy out of that. The greatest rewards in life are when you give of yourself what I want you to do. This is kind of a reflective call and a reflective exercise and workout. But as I go through these 10 different points, I want you to really think about your life and what you've done for other people. I had to act on the fly and request responses to email interview questions with Zoom, but it didn't work. Okay, well, don't worry about it, Paige. Don't you worry about it at all. But I want you to think about the times in your life when this happens. Right? The greatest rewards in life are when you give of yourself. Do you have many examples of that? The question is, can you make an example of that each and every day that you live? Are you able to say, you know what? Yes, I did give of myself today. There are a lot of people that just can't. There's a lot of people that only focus on them. But, boy, when we're out serving others, and, man, do we need to be serving others more now than ever. That's what it's all about. I know this. Being a football coach for 25 years and we had a lot of success, obviously. Got to get my U of A logo in there. And people asked, how did we do what we did? And there was one principle that we always lived by, that we believed as coaches. And we always believe that people in general, right, in their primal nature, in their nature as human beings, people will always do more for others than they will do for themselves. And you may think that that's funny and that maybe doesn't sound right, but as we reflect on being a part of something bigger than us, I'm telling you right now that the reason you want to do that is because you know what? You will do more for others than you will for yourselves. People that focus on themselves tend to be angry down. No energy, no vitality. Why? Because they're all focusing on them. I heard a definition of suicide and suicide being the most selfish act, people that become suicidal, it's because all they focus on is what they're not getting, what life cannot get them. So hopefully none of you are there. Hopefully you don't know any of them. But if there is somebody, let's reach out to them. If you know somebody that needs to talk, let's reach out to them every now and then. I do see suicide prevention alerts on Facebook that says, come have coffee. Come come to me now. Can we do that? Yes or no? I don't know. I mean, I would, but we are all isolating right now. So, anyway, back to being part of something bigger than yourself, right? The university of attitude. Bigger than me. And thank you guys for being a part of that. Let's see what else I want to talk to you about. The source. Okay, so the bottom line is this. If you want to be a part of something bigger than you, here's your exercise for the day, and we'll probably cut this little short, and I'll end with a story. What I want you to do is literally within the next five minutes, when we get off this call, go do something for somebody. Go call them, Go write them a letter. Go take them on a walk. Go tell somebody that you've been feuding with, that you love them. Go make up a relationship that you've been ignoring. There's so much that we can do outside of ourselves, and I think you know deep in your hearts that you do it. One thing you could maybe do is answer the call and share this video, right? Maybe this video will get to somebody. The people on this call are people of action, and I appreciate you for that, and I thank you for being on this call. I'm going to tell you a story about two frogs. Two frogs that went walking through the woods, very wooded area, and they were hopping along, and then all of a sudden they fell in this huge hole, big, big hole. And they started jumping and trying to get out. And after about five or 10 minutes, the one frog said, there's no way we're going to get out of this hole. There's just no way. And the other frog kept jumping and jumping and jumping. And people would walk by and other animals would walk by, and they'd be like, you're never gonna jump out of that hole. Quit trying. Well, you know, the one frog did. He quit trying. He laid at the bottom of that hole, and you know what? He ended up dying. But that other frog, he kept jumping and jumping and jumping, and people kept walking by and they kept going you're never going to make it out of that hole. You're never going to make it out of that hole. And he kept going and he kept going. And more people walked by and they said, that stupid old frog just won't give up. Well, lo and behold, you know what happened? That darn frog jumped out of the hole. He actually made it out of the hole. And one of the animals walked up to him and said, I can't believe you made it out of a hole. Everybody was telling you that there's no way you're going to make it out of the hole. And the frog looked at him in amazement and couldn't understand him. And the reason he couldn't understand him was because the frog was deaf. Right? The frog couldn't hear. He thought the people walking by making fun of him were encouraging him. And he kept jumping and he got out of the hole. So why does that story relate to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Well, I'm going to tell you why. There's a lot of information that is going on in our world. There's a lot of information that is coming into your mind. There's a lot of information on TV that you can digest. And just like that frog, I'm hoping that you turn deaf to it. I hope that you stay in your mind. I hope that you stay positive in your mind and you don't let all the alarming things that are happening and they are, and it's rough. And I've seen the live videos of those nurses. And God bless our nurses, they doctors in healthcare industry. They are a part of something bigger than us. But the bottom line is this, guys and gals, stay inside your mind. I want to thank you. It's been a fun two weeks. This is episode number 10. We've been through all the attitude boosters. I want to thank you for being a part of something bigger than you here at the University of Attitude. We will be back next week. I'm planning on going for another week, maybe another week after that. I'll have five new topics for the week. This was a more of a reflective day. I didn't seem as outrageous as I've been the past couple times, but I want to hopefully put Bill and Bonita in your hearts. They're traveling to New York right now. And I hope you find somebody to do something for today. Thank you so much. This is Glen Bill from the University of Attitude reminding you that you cannot win in life, you cannot win in business unless you win in your mind first. And that's what I'm here for.
