The Gap Bridging the gap from who you are to who you want to become. And bridging the gap from where you are to where you want to go. Hello, I am the founder of the University of Attitude and my name is Glenn Bill. It is so good to have you with us. I have been fortunate to help tens of thousands of people around this great country Get Attitude and this podcast, well, it's going to help you get yours Attitude, the secret formula for success in your business and in your life. And this podcast will help you get yours. So let's get some. I want to welcome you all. We are down to two more boosters. We have Attitude booster number nine, Eat Right and Exercise. And that's what we are going to be focusing on for the whole next month with four incredible guests. We are going to start off with Nissan Trotter. Nissan is known as the Fitness Preacher. Nissan is an extremely inspiring young man. He played football at Bucknell University. He has his own fitness business. He is from the Deep south and has some fantastic stories about how fitness has helped him create a life that's worth having, create a business that's worth selling. But more importantly how helped him with any personal challenges that he's had. So we are really looking forward to Nissan Trotter, the Fitness Preacher. He is absolutely fantastic and I know you're going to enjoy it. Then my personal trainer, or she was, I don't get to use her anymore because she's out living in Arizona. Her name is Sharon Phillips and Sharon has an incredible story. Sharon went through a marital reversal, is what we call that a divorce. She has two unbelievable sons, one of which does have some special needs. She talks about how diet and exercise helped him. Beautiful family, beautiful lady, super motivated, high energy. She also talked about the thing that, you know what a lot of our listeners go through and it's this thing called menopause Nobody wants to talk about menopause, but she. She talks about how that affected her and how diet and exercise helped her get through the challenges that that brings to the females in our audience. And Sharon's just a burst of energy. She's from South Africa, and you are going to absolutely love her. Then we are going to have a guest named Susan vanhusen, who wrote a book called One Bite at a Time. Susan suffered a terrible loss. Her husband died, you know, quickly, natural causes, nothing dramatic. But Susan's going to talk about her effort to bridge the gap from, you know, being in love and marrying the man of your dreams to losing him and how she bridged the gap One Bite at a Time, which is the name of her book. Susan works for a major corporation here in America. She works on wellness, and she goes into corporations and helps them with this idea of nutrition, wellness, mindfulness, and, you know, the ability to recuperate and adapt, to stay happy. And then we'll finish with two really great guys from Genesis Sports for performance. Genesis is a workout facility and a exercise facility that actually a lot of NFL college and high school athletes here in central Indiana attend. Dale Speckman and Graham Wilkerson are the owners of that enterprise, and they have all the best health and fitness and exercise information when it comes to not only pro athletes, college athletes, or high school athletes, but, you know, females, females that are 30, 40, 50, 60, and males that are the same age. And they actually train the elderly. So for all of you who have parents at home and you're wondering, what are the things we can do when we can't go to a gym to help our elderly parents exercise, stay in shape, eat correctly. I'm telling you, these two guys are it. So we are so excited about attitude booster number nine, which is eat right and exercise, because, you know what, it matters. I mean, when we talk about the Get Attitude podcast And our past 10 boosters, certainly this one becomes a bit more proactive. It's a bit more tangible. It's something that can be, I don't know, maybe more accountable for you. And when we look at the epidemic, right, of diabetes in America, which is truly an epidemic at this point, attitude booster number nine can help you solve that problem. Diabetes, I can't even tell you that. The numbers are shocking and astonishing. And when it's all said and done, the people that are having pre diabetes and or diabetes, basically, it can be cleared up if you eat right and you exercise. So what I just wanted to do is introduce attitude booster number nine, Give you some things to think about maybe this month and it's going to be the month of October that we're doing this. It's the first month of the fourth quarter, right? It's a great way to start the fourth quarter. You know, November and December, you're going to sit there and you're going to eat and eat and eat and not exercise because the weather's not right or whatever. Maybe, just maybe, what we could do is dedicate this month to our health and well being. We can dedicate this month to eat right and exercise so we can roll out of the rest of the fourth quarter feeling healthy, feeling clear and all the benefits that occur. And so there's some very basic information about eating right and exercising that I thought I would just touch on and let you know what we're going to be talking about this month. There were some things that really changed my life that helped me stay in average shape. I wish I was in better shape. And maybe this October I will employ everything we're talking about. But these are just some major topics that when introduced to me and used as a roadmap, I was able to say, hey, you know What? These are 10 pretty simple things when it comes to diet and exercise that I can employ myself. I don't need a personal trainer, I don't really need a nutritionist. Google can do all that for me. And I just want you to sit back with me and go through these and say, am I doing this or am I not doing this? So when we talk about eating right and exercise, I'm going to just start on the eat right thing. And these are the things I want you to be cognizant of as we go through the month. These are the things that we are going to drill down and dig down into in depth this month about, you know, how to do this, why you should do it and what does it look like. So the very first eat right piece of advice that I'm giving out today, and again, I am not a doctor, I am not a nutritionist, but I am going to just give you some very simple eat right and exercise bullet points. And the first one is this thing called fiber right Base meals should, should have a lot of fiber for you. Again, I'm not going to pontificate on why, but the question is, do you know about what fiber in your diet can do? Fiber obviously keeps you regular. We know that 80% or 75% of most disease starts in your colonial. And the bottom line is colon health is a new keyword and Colon health is aided by this thing, by fiber intake. If you're, if some of you may be very aware, some of you may know all this, but those of you who don't, trust me, this could be a life changing strategy for you to be looking at fiber. What does fiber mean? What does it do? And again, some of our guests will be hitting on that. Obviously I tell people all the time you, you got to eat your fruits and veggies, right? I don't know what your favorite fruits and vegetables are. But you know what, do you eat fruits and vegetables every day or do you not? I know for us we've been getting five dollar bowls of fruit damn near every day from our local grocery store and it's amazing. I can tell the difference just by eating that daily, what that has done for me. So big fan of the fruit and veggie take and I hope that maybe you are too. I'd love you to take an inventory. You know, how much, how many times do you eat fruit a week or vegetables a week? I know for a fact, because I have people in my family, they eat no fruit for a whole week. I would tell you that we're going to give you some good reasons and some eye openers on to do that. Now look at my wife, God love her, she hates fish. And the reason she hates fish is because her mom used to feed her Mrs. Paul's fish sticks as a child and she didn't really understand that there's some good ass fish out there that you can eat. And so the thought is look at red meats, not necessarily good for gut health. Again, not a doctor, not a nutritionist, but are you a person that is putting fish into your diet, especially the oily type of fish? If you are a non fish eater, we're going to have to google and figure out what can be the substitute for you. And we're going to be talking about this with our guest the this month. But again, just an inventory. If you're sitting here listening to the Gap, what does my fish intake look like? The most important eat right advice that I ever received was this. Do not consume white powders. Like white powders are bad for you, right? Sugar, flour, cocaine, whatever it might be. White powders, not good. We really need to cut down on saturated fats and sugar. And as a matter of fact, I know that those pop drinkers out there, people, if you're drinking Coke, I don't know, I think it's like 43 grams of freaking sugar in a Coke. Now Coke's probably not going to sponsor this podcast, Jason, after that comment. But what are you putting in your body? And are you cognizant of the grams of sugar that you are in taking today? I know when I became aware of how much sugar that I was putting into my body, instantly I cut it out, and I instantly lost weight. If you're looking for dramatic quick weight gain, and again, I'm not a doctor or a weight loss specialist, but I would say if you're consuming 100 grams of sugar, which is very easily done, and I can tell you this, children are consuming 100 grams of sugar very easily each and every day. Something to watch. Saturated fats, hey, it's right on every. In your sugar amounts. They're on everything that you eat. So all you got to do is open your eyes and look. Basically what they say, on average, men should have no more than 30 grams of saturated fat a day, and women should stay under 20 grams of saturated fat every day. So I always thought that was interesting. Those are some numbers. They also say men should do 2500 calories or less a day and 2000 calories for women. So that kind of coincides with everything. But sugar is just, again, it's a killer. And everything you can do to get it out of your diet is something that's important. I used to drink Gatorade thinking, man, Gatorade would be great, I'm going to get my hydration back. Well, I found out, I don't know, there's like 36 grams of sugar in the original formula of Gatorade that was for athletes down in the south, is where it was done down in Florida, I believe, to replace the sugars you lose during a competitive football game. But the bottom line is, if you've been out drinking all night and you think loading 36 grams of sugar on top of all the sugar and alcohol is good for you, well, guess what? It's not. So more than 22.5 grams of total sugar per hundred grams means that the food is super high in sugar. So what I always try to do is I try to eat. Anytime I eat, I try to find things that are less than 10 grams of sugar. You know, salt is another thing that overdue lots of spices and that type of issue. I love salt. Most people love salt, but certainly salt retains water and obviously can cause heart problems. Do you monitor your salt intake? I really don't because I don't eat a lot of it. But it's probably something that we should do. Number six is, I mean, look at this is obvious. This is why we have eat right and exercise. The bottom line is if you can gain, if you can get active, and I always just like to use this if you're, if you are not active, there are people that are listening here that really don't move a lot. And what I would challenge you to do is move twice as much as you move right now. If you don't move, I would challenge you just to simply take a walk around the block and then maintain that. And if you do exercise twice a week, my guess is, you know what, maybe try four times a week. Sharon kind of will talk to us about this. She's a physical trainer, licensed. And the bottom line is we all know what our healthy weight is. If you're overweight, then getting active and moving your body, I just can't tell you about the benefit of that. Dehydration, something that we'll also talk about. Are you dehydrated? The very simple standard for hydration is drink half of your body weight in ounces. Now, I know that that may seem like a lot, but, you know, are you hydrating and do you have enough water in your diet? Very, very important. Don't be thirsty. And you know what? I'm going to take a sip of water now. All right, let's go to the final thought on eating right and exercising or on eating right. Is this thing called do not skip breakfast. I am a breakfast skipper. I don't eat breakfast. But obviously there are reasons that it is healthy to eat breakfast. And I think that's something that we're going to be talking with Graham and Dale about, is the importance of breakfast eating, especially if you are active and working out and not going into your day with an empty stomach and or dehydrated. So eight quick tips on eating right that I always think are good. A little barometer. I don't know if you are doing them or if you're not doing them, but I wanted to just focus on those. That's what we'll be talking about with these four esteemed and influential guests. And then I just want to touch briefly on this thing called exercise and the mental and emotional boost, right, the attitude boost simply from moving and creating exercise. We know this. That exercise will make you feel happier. You know, it's been shown to improve your mood, decrease your feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress. That is just the way it is. For those of you who never work out. You probably won't know this, but it' sit hurts to start working out. But boy, when you're done and you've sweated and you've run and you've lifted and your muscles are a little sore. I'm just telling you that these things called serotonin and endorphins and neoprenephrins that come into your mind after exercising, look at it. Cannot be denied. You want to boost your attitude, boost your exercise. You want to boost your happiness, boost your exercise. Obviously, exercise can help us with weight loss. Burning the calories, burning the fat. You're going to need to engage a personal trainer to help you with that. But look at it, you know, you're not going to be happier being heavier. That's the last time I checked. And if you want to weight, if you want to create weight loss, very tough to do without moving, very tough to do without exercise. Are there pills out there that they say work? Yeah, maybe. But you know what? Ultimately, creating a higher metabolism and moving your body that is going to aid in weight loss. Obviously, exercise is great for your bones and muscles. And especially in older people, you can tell folks in their 70s and 80s who actually exercise to have bone density, create muscle structure. I saw this with my parents who are both, who are both gone. But I'm telling you, exercise, especially in your 60s, late 60s, rigorous exercise can be the difference between life and death. I mean, when you're 70, 80 years old and you make that fall, being able to catch yourself, being able to react, having bones with high bone density and the bottom line is your ability to not fall because you have strong muscles makes a difference. And you know what? I see people who haven't exercised, who are in their 40s and 50s, that don't have the agility or the ability to stop a fall, that have the coordination to not be at risk. Guys, look at, exercise is great for your muscles and bones. Muscles and bones protect you when things go wrong, especially when you are older. Some of us have problems with energy levels. Some of us are like, look at, man, I'm down all the time. I have no energy, I have no vitality. Well, look it, exercise handles that. If you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, if you're sick and tired of being tired all the time, of having no vitality, of having no energy. I'm telling you what a limited, even a limited exercise program is going to increase your mental acuity, increase your energy, and increase your vitality. But you know what? You got to start. You got to start right now. And it only maybe needs to be one walk down the block, something like that. So those are just a few things that I wanted to talk about when it comes to exercise. Obviously, another benefit of exercise is skin health. You can tell healthy people by the glow in their skin, by the color of their skin, by the blood flow in their body. If you are somebody that looks in the mirror and goes, my God, I look pale, I look ashy, I look dry, my guess is you ain't moving enough. If you want your skin to be glowing and healthy, kind of like mine looks on this Jason on that picture there. Huh? Not bad. I think it looked great. Oh, thanks, buddy. Even better in real life. Yes. Although the lighting, I think the lighting is making me look too. It's just the monitor you're looking at. It looks really good on this end. Okay, very good, very good. But skin health, big, hey, look at, huge deal. Bottom line is the biggest organ in your body is your skin. Number seven. It can help you with brain health and memory. Look at, people forget stuff all the time, right? People go, God, I can't remember. My brain isn't functioning. They have pills now. Joe Rogan's out pumping mind pills and all kinds of crazy stuff, eating right, like microdosing. Yeah. I mean, I forget what it is, but he's. It's like all I do is, I see Facebook, I see Joe Rogan on this brain feed, whatever the hell it is, I can't remember the name of the product. It's actually called Neural Link. Neuralink. Elon Musk's Neural Link. Yeah, there you go. So maybe we'll get some of that for the next podcast so I won't forget. But anyway, when we talk about brain health and memory, certainly this thing called exercise can help. It is. Is your brain health the way you want it? Have you ever thought about brain health? Do you feel like you're not remembering things like you used to? Well, I'm telling you what, this thing called eating right and exercise can help you. When we talk about some of the problems that people my age have, 40, 50, 60, even some in the 30s, we have a horrible quality of sleep, like lack of sleep and the inability to sleep through the night in America at an all time high, just like diabetes. And so when we talk about being a relaxed person, relieving anxiety, being able to think clearly, being able to sleep throughout the night and being able to feel rested, it goes hand in hand. If you're not moving, if you're not exercising, trust me, you're going to feel anxious, you're not going to be able to sleep, you're going to be overweight, you're not going to be able to focus and concentrate and it becomes a self perpetuating thing. Very tough to bridge the gap if you're not in shape, if you're not eating right and if you're not exercising and if you're like me because I have a lot going on. You know what I know every time I really get after it in the gym, my quality of sleep just goes through the roof. The other thing obviously is it's a pain reducer, right? If you're moving your joints and you're eating correctly and you're hydrating. Most pain in our body comes from stiffness and inflammation. Keeping an active body, keeping a hydrated body, keeping a well nourished body with vitamins, minerals, certainly key to being a big pain reducer. And then lastly, guys, I mean, who doesn't want a better sex life? Like, look it, trust me, if you're in shape and you exercise, your partner's gonna probably be very thankful to you. But it gets the blood flowing and being able to have blood flow in your body is huge. So you know what, if you can eat right and exercise for yourself, but my God, let's go ahead and eat right and exercise for our partners. Because you know what, if sex is important to you and you're a person that likes sex, I'm just telling you right now, eating right and exercising booster number nine, that's going to help. So when we want to talk about getting attitude, that is my hope that we deliver for you this month with our four fantastic guests on the Get Attitude podcast featuring attitude booster number nine. Eat right and exercise. This is Glenville and we will look forward to seeing you on our next Get Attitude podcast. This podcast is a part of the C Suite Radio Network.
