Hello and welcome to the Gap. The Gap. The Get Attitude Podcast. Bridging the gap from who you are to who you want to become and helping you get from where you are to where you want to be. My name is Glenn Bill, founder of the University of Attitude, keynote speaker and author of the international bestseller the ABCs of Attitude. I've been fortunate enough to help tens of thousands of people in my life. Get Attitude. Attitude is your secret formula to success in your business and in your life. And this podcast will help you get yours. So, so let's get some. I want to welcome everybody to today's podcast. We are going to explain a little bit more about what our podcast is and the sequence, what we're doing. In our book the ABCs of Attitude, we talk through the 10 attitude boosters. People say all the time to me, Glenn, how do you keep your attitude so positive? How are you so energetic? How do you have so much vitality? And it very simply comes from me executing on the 10 ideas that are held in the attitude boosters. Our podcast will be sequential. We will be having three to four podcasts on each and every booster, booster number one, which I think really is the most important one. It's the booster that stems from everything. Without this, it's almost impossible to maintain a positive attitude. You know, attitude isn't just something that you just hope to have. Attitude is something that you have to work on. I think about the great Zig Ziglar when they talked about motivation and they said, zig, how do you stay motivated? And he said, well, you know what, motivation's a lot like bathing. We recommend you do it daily. And we recommend the same thing when it comes to studying and implementing positive attitude. The way to stay positive is to live through these 10 attitude boosters that we are going to explore in the first 40 episodes of our podcast. And this week and this month we're going to be exploring attitude booster number one, which is be nice, pretty simple concept which when you think about Being nice. You know, why is that, number one? Well, look at all 10 attitude boosters are important, but if you're a mean, miserable prick and you try to implement the rest of these, they're not going to work. I always like to say, you know, what we put out into the world is what we receive. Our listeners are people that are coming here to either improve their already amazing attitude, which we appreciate your support. But we also have people that have been referred to this podcast that have said, you know what? I'm down, I'm negative, people treat me like crap, and I'm not executing the life that I want to be executing on. Oh, that's a special sound effect from our producer, Jason Jolliffe. Jason, welcome to the podcast. Everybody, say hello to Jason. Jason, say hello to our gappers, if you would. Way to put me on blast. All right. That's a faux pas, though. That's my fault. I'm muted now. Sorry about that. Okay, that's okay. So Jason Jolliffe is our renowned producer of this show, and Jason will pop in every now and then. But back to the talk about our gappers, Right? If you're listening to this, we are calling you a gapper, and what we want you to do is make sure that you are subscribing, that you're rating, that you're reviewing, that you're sharing our podcast on Facebook and social media. There are people in your life, I know that you go, oh, my God, that person needs an attitude adjustment. But who knows where to go to get it? Well, one thing you can do is hand them my book, the ABCs of Attitude. But the other thing you can simply do is just share the link to this podcast. Our goal is simply this, that when you come into this podcast, you come out of this podcast, we with a better attitude, that you actually feel better from spending the 20 to 40 minutes that we will be doing this. If you know people in your life and maybe it's you that need attitude, that need to get attitude, then this is the podcast for you. I always like to talk to people about, you know, they go, what does get attitude mean? And, you know, getting attitude people like, I have an attitude. Oh, I got an attitude, or they got an attitude. You know, everybody feels like everybody else's attitude needs to be improved or changed except their own. Well, I'm here to tell you guys and gals that everybody, including yourself, I mean, really, the person's attitude that you need to work on most is yours. Because attitude is a contagious thing. And when we talk about being nice and being kind, which is attitude booster number one. This is what is going to happen with our gapper. So I want to welcome you to the podcast. I want to welcome you to accepting and embracing the term that you're a gapper. You know, it's someday I hope to have a Get Attitude podcast seminar. I'd love to have every gapper that follows me and what we do at the university of attitude. I would love to have a, you know what a 100 person attitude meeting of a day and a half of attitude study. And then maybe that hundred turns into a thousand. Maybe that thousand turns into 5,000. Maybe that 10,000 turns in 5,000 turns into 10,000. We actually got like 10,000 gappers that are like rocking and rolling, meeting once a year at the university. And you know, people say, glenn, where's the university of attitude? I said, it's that big, big campus. It's about six inches. It's. Yeah, it's the six inches between your ears. That's where the university of attitude lies. So let's talk about attitude booster number one. Attitude booster number one. This, this thing called be nice. We mentioned this and I digress, and I digress often. And for you, add gappers out there, that's going to be a good thing for you because you'll find, follow right along. But what you put out in the world is what you put into the world. So many people walk around as victims, right? So many people walk around and go, God, people treat me like crap. They don't respond to me the way they respond to you. Why is everybody so negative to me? Why is everybody so mean? Why can't people just do what I want them to do? Well, I believe part of the reason is you may or may not be asking what or being nice to those people. I started in the real estate brokerage business as a young guy. I was 18 years old when I got my license, 19 when I started to sell. And I can tell you this, I was not very nice when I was young. I was stressed out, I was young, I was broke, I was self important and I was very successful. And I thought because I was successful that the people that supported my business deserve to be, you know, kicked in the shin when I needed something. I always wanted things done. Right now I wasn't nice when I talked to my vendors. You know, perhaps you are in a business where you have to deal with people. Hello. Yeah, like everybody has to deal with people. You know, one of my favorite sayings is we all have Two things in common, and that's. That's these things called problems and relationships. And I know that when you work through problems and you work on relationships, being nice will take you a long way. Being nice will open the door to other people listening. But what it also opens the door for is it opens the door for people to be nice. Back to you. So hint clue on attitude. If you are not being treated the way you wish to be treated, it's probably because you're not treating others the way you wish to be treated. Does that make sense? I think there's an old saying, do unto others as they should do unto you, which is basically the fundamental of being nice. If you want to influence, if you want to create impact, people must like you when it's all said and done. And you know what? People like people that are nice.

So now it's time for some self introspection. How nice are you? And a lot of people say, glenn, how do I work on becoming nice? Well, I can tell you one. One very simple way to work on becoming nice is something called compliment. The ability to deliver compliments to every single person you meet throughout the day. Now, some people say, glenn, you're so full of shit because you compliment everybody. Well, the bottom line is I am looking for the best in everybody, right? Just like this podcast, I am looking to make sure that the people who engage with me on a daily basis feel better after meeting me than they did before they met me. I want to improve their day. When it's all said and done. How many compliments are you dishing out in a day? A lot of people aren't walking through their day saying, I need to find the good in people. And, you know, finding the good in people is really what giving a compliment is. A compliment is just the act of finding the good in people. So what I want you to do, if you're listening to this, is think about who have I come in contact with today and have I made their day better? Right? I Mean, isn't that pretty simple? If everybody's day you came in contact with got better because you came in contact with them, that's called being nice. Do you think your attitude is going to become more positive or more negative? Do you think the people, how they react to you will be more positive? See, when you ask yourself that question and you've received crappy service at Starbucks, right? You had to sit in line for 20 minutes, then you walk to the bank and you can't deposit your check because the bank's only doing electronic checks. And your day has been delayed and started off horribly because of poor customer service from, let's say, somebody at a coffee shop. Then you walk to your bank and then you get a customer that calls that's all pissed off and angry about something that's completely out of your control, right? Three negative experiences. How do you turn those into something positive? Well, I'm going to tell you the way to do that is to be nice to each and every person that you interacted with at the coffee shop, at the bank, and with your customer. If you only bitch and complain at the coffee shop and at the bank about why they suck and why you're not getting what you're getting, number one, that's not going to help. And they're not going to move any faster. As a matter of fact, they may spit in your coffee and they may misapply your funds to a different bank account. But if you create a partnership, if you make them the hero in their own story, you will find that things will start happening in your life that is better and you're going to start saying, ah, I think I understand what this get attitude means. Like what get attitude means when it comes to being nice means. Get nice, right? Quit bitching, quit complaining, quit reacting, right? Let's be proactive. Let's look for the good in people. And let's say, how can I find a compliment for every single person that I meet? So that's what attitude booster number one is, right? Be nice. Ask yourself, on a scale of 1 to 10, how nice am I? Don't say, glenn, I already know that I need to be nice. I don't care that you know it. The question is, is do you do it and do you have an awareness and do you ask yourself, am I conducting myself in a manner that is going to put me in a more positive state that's going to give me more impact and more results by being nice? I just want you to try it. So many people when they do this exercise with me, they go, oh my God, I'm having trouble being nice to people, right? I'm having trouble finding the compliment. When you become a real gapper when it comes to being nice, it's when you have the shittiest person walk up to you with the meanest frowl on their face, right? With the meanest language to you and you're able to take them in to your kindness and you're able to walk them out with a compliment and actually change their state. See, when you're being nice, we call our gapper state changers, right? Can we be an ambassador of nice? That's what being nice means to me. I mean, and hopefully that's what it means to you. The bottom line is being nice helps everybody become contagiously, contagiously attracted to you. If you are in no matter what business, what office setting, whatever family, whatever team, people are going to let you influence them if they first like you. And they are not going to like you if you're not nice. That is how being nice helped me grow. You know what? After five, six years in the brokerage business trolling and beating up all my vendors, I found out the reason that I had to keep cracking the whip and beating them over the head and being negative was because I wasn't being nice to them. And the people that support you need to be valued, right? They need to feel your value and they need to feel your kindness. And when you look at the people that work with you and that support what you're doing, if they feel that you're a kind person, you will see results magnify in their productivity, but not only in their productivity, but in yours. So you know this whole concept. If you are looking to grow, if you're looking to create more meaning in your life, I suggest that we definitely look into this thing called Be nice and live. The attitude booster number one. We have some amazing guests who are going to be talking about being nice on our upcoming podcast. The first is multi time New York Times bestselling author Andy Andrews, who just wrote his new book at the Bottom of the Pool. And Andrew. Andy will unleash some secrets about how being nice can affect your life, how being nice can affect your business, how being nice can just simply make you a person that thinks differently, acts differently and creates different results. Andy's interview was so deep and so fascinating that it woke me up and it helped me get attitude. And I'm sure it will help you get attitude too. Our other amazing guest that is going to be talking about Being nice is a doctor, a global healer named Dr. Chuck Dietzen. And Dr. Chuck spent three weeks with mother Teresa. When you think about the lessons Mother has taught all of us, this, this unbelievable man knows the secrets of Mother Teresa, has been given gifts by Mother and ultimately Mother's number one quality and virtue was that of kindness. So if you want to hear from a global healer, the founder of Timmy Global Health, a recognized healthcare not for profit. They were a Chase giving awards honoree. They got I think a quarter of a million dollar grant from Chase. That is an interview you're going to want to hear. Dr. Chuck wrote a book called Pint Sized Profits. And it's Chuck's experience and it's the lessons he learned from the children of the world about how you can be so poor, how you can be so isolated, how you could possibly be so lonely and yet find lessons in these pint sized profits. So Dr. Chuck is an incredible person and he and his book are fantastic. I'd recommend that you buy those and I certainly recommend if you want to get some attitude on being nice, that you, that you tune in to Chuck's podcast. We also have one of the boy most influential successful real estate brokers in America. A true success story. A gal that walked into an office at 19 years old and she went from the secretary to becoming president of a billion. Yes, with a b. A b. Billion dollar real estate brokerage. Her name is Tracy Hutton. Tracy is a friend of mine and a colleague of mine and I tell you what, her lessons on being a female in a male dominated world are amazing. She rose to the top because of her kindness and how nice she is. But Tracy's view on being nice even amplified what we've already discussed today. Her definition of being nice is something that you are definitely going to want to know. Never really hit me, but after my podcast with Traci, I can tell you I had a whole new dimension on be nice, what that means and more importantly, what it means to others and where to look for it. So those are just three, three of the people that are going to be talking to us about being nice. Attitude booster number one. If you want to get some attitude, if you want to work on how nice am I, then I'm telling you you're going to want to tune into our first four podcasts on being nice. We have unbelievable guests every single week that when it comes to getting attitude, these are all people that have mastered attitude, that have attitude and they get attitude. So I look forward to having you on our journey. I Look forward to having you subscribe, rate and review what we are doing here at the Get Attitude Podcast. I am going to ask that you join us at the University of Attitude on Facebook, that you join the Attitude Movement on Facebook, that you comment on our post, that you follow me at Glenville Keynote speaker and that most of all you get on and you share what we are doing here at the Get Attitude Podcast. If you know somebody who has mastered their attitude, if you know somebody that gets attitude and that is a influencer, somebody who our gappers need to hear from, somebody that you just know that if our gappers after a 30 minute conversation on this podcast could turn on the light, could squeeze the juice from the lemon of life, that person that could inspire, that person that could help somebody think differently, but most important, a person that could help our listeners get the attitude they want. Please message me on Facebook. Hit me at gbill@the universityofattitude.com we're always looking for the those people that can add to the attitude experience.
