Hi everyone and welcome back to our channel. We know that government contracting can feel really overwhelming when you are just starting out, but today we want to put your mind at ease and help you get started. When it boils down to it, there are four easy registrations that will get you access to most everything you need. Lets dive into the details and get started. First on the list and probably the most important registration is SAM or the System for Awards Management. It is the primary database for vendors that wish to do business with the federal government. Registering here provides you with a CAGE code which is a crucial identifier for all government suppliers and you will need this on each registration going forward. The cost is free and it will take about 45 days to process. Next we have dibs, which is the DLA Internet Bid Board System. This platform is where vendors submit their bids for government contracts, but before you can bid you need to be registered. Again, the cost is free and the online registration process is pretty quick. It'll take about 15 minutes. However, you will need to expect around seven days to receive an address verification postcard. If you do not receive this postcard, please go back onto the DIBS registration site and resubmit for a postcard. Then you'll move on to C Folders, which is short for Collaboration Folders. This is the DLA's repository for technical specifications and drawings. To access and download these essential documents, you must be registered with C folders. Again, the cost is free and the registration is typically processed in real time, provided there are no hiccups. Lastly, there's the JJCP or the U.S. canadian Joint Certification Program. Getting this certification will make you more competitive for contracts. This program is designed to certify that a company operates within the US Or Canada, and it'll grant access to unclassified technical data that reveals critical technology. The cost is free and depending on the completeness and accuracy of your submission, it can take around one to three weeks to hear back of your approval. Embarking on a journey with government contracts requires preparation. These registrations are not just formalities, but they are the foundation of your business relationship with the government. Ensure that they are active and up to date. Your future contracts depend on it. Put a reminder on your calendar to make sure that you are up to date. All of the links to these websites and numbers to call if you get stuck and free guides are in our video description.
