First, to find out if your firm is a good fit for the program, visit certify sba.gov and answer the questions in the Am I eligible? Section of the website. Since participation in the program is limited to nine years and individuals can only participate once in their lifetime, and it is important to make sure you are ready to start applying for federal contracts before submitting your 8 application next, you'll want to know the resources that are available to you throughout your journey. The Small Business Administration, or sba, has assembled both a knowledge base and other supporting material to aid you in successfully completing your 8 initial application. Access these at any time by clicking on the help link on certify.sba.gov Two things you'll want to have nearby are the Application Checklist and the Quick Start Guide. The Application Checklist lists the documents required for your application, and it is recommended that you gather these prior to beginning your application in Certify. Each file should be named based on the document and year. Example taxreturn2015 each document must be saved in PDF format. The file size limit for each is 25 megabytes, and files should not be password protected. The application process in Certify is set up in such a way that you must upload the requested documents when asked before moving to another section, so having all documents ready for upload prior to beginning the application process in Certify will help expedite your submission process. The Quick Start Guide tells you what to do next. If you get stuck at any point in the process, review the document's many sections, and if you have questions, you can always email our help desk@helpertify.sba.gov for more helpful videos and training material on certified.sba.gov and the 8A initial application process, visit the help page on certify.sba.gov.
