Register with SAM.gov and Create Your MPIN

The System for Award Management, or SAM, is an official website of the U.S. government where all firms must register in order to do business with the US government. If you already have an active profile in SAM.gov and have access to your DUNS number, Tax Identification Number and mpin, you may skip this step and start the process of connecting your SAM.gov profile with your certify.sba.gov profile. However, it is recommended that if you previously created your SAM account, go into SAM to ensure your information is up to date and accurate, as Certify will pull this information into your 8 application. If you do not have an active profile in SAM.gov, you will need to register for a username and password and complete all of the required sections for an entity registration and wait to hear that your application has been reviewed and and you've been accepted. Since this process is not immediate, you will likely not be able to apply for SAM.gov and create an account in Certify on the same day. When you register as an entity in sam, they will create an MPIN number which will be used when creating your Certify account. Once your SAM account has been accepted, how will you know that your account is ready and accepted by SAM.gov, you will see your entity registration status is active, as you see in this screen here.
