Chapters

My name is Stephanie Diller. My husband was Jonathan Diller. He was a New York City police officer and he was conducting a routine traffic stop when he approached a vehicle and he asked the occupants to step out of the vehicle. They did not. Numerous times he asked. And when the occupants stepped out of the vehicle, he shot my husband under his vest. Occupant then tried to turn the gun and execute my husband's partner, but the gun got jammed, so my husband fought the occupant for the gun and managed to get it away. My husband was rushed to the hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his wounds. He left behind me and sorry our 14 month old child, Ryan. And now I'm here to tell his story and stop this from happening to other, other families. It was a criminal with a long history. 19 to 20 prior arrests, out on bail, who should have never been on the streets. And if he wasn't, then my husband would have came home that day. To both Ryan and I. I never thought and I never wanted to live a life without John. But in my heart, I want to live a life that's that John is proud of. One, that I raised my son to do the right thing, to be a good person. And two, that I will always remember him. I'll always tell his story. I'll always fight what is right and I'll make sure he's never forgotten. And talking about him, I and President Trump, talking about him keeps his story alive. Keeps him alive and it honors his memory and it makes his legacy live on.
