Veteran Technology Business Sets Sights on Growth

Hi, I'm Nick ripplinger, president of Battlesight Technologies and a U.S. army veteran. I joined the army in 2004 and was lucky enough to serve until 2011 when I was medically retired. I found out about SBA's small business innovative Research Program through the network of veterans here in the community. Seemed like such a natural fit for Battle Site as we were innovating and delivering these capabilities to the men and women in uniform. SBIR pours development dollars into small businesses to spur innovation on behalf of the country. That first SBIR contract really allowed us to take our mind off of raising capital and just focus on delivering the capability. So Battleside has grown to a pipeline of over 30 products, with four products in the commercialization phase. None of us have all the answers. Thankfully, there's organizations such as the SBA with resources to help us get to where we're going.
