Greg Stevenson describes Officer Army Training in Wauru, where six trainees carried a 30-kilogram ammunition box through darkness and days without sleep. When one trainee wanted to quit, Greg sat beside him and quietly offered belief they would finish. That simple act revived the group's resolve.
I was on Officer Army Training in Wauru. Dark, cold, we'd had no sleep for days. We were carrying a 30-kilogram ammunition box between 6 of us. Morale was collapsing. One of the men hit a wall. He sat down and said he couldn't go on. Everything I felt said, stop, rest. Just let him recover. What I showed was completely different. I sat down next to him quietly, no performance, no speech. I told him we're going to finish, not because I knew we would, because he needed to believe it first. And we finished.
