Google Doesn't Trust You! (Part 1)

Greg Tressler explains why Google doesn't trust your business and what to do about it. He covers how trust signals and local citations affect your rankings, and why consistent digital referrals matter for improving your online presence.
Greg Tressler here. A quick video to pretty much anybody that's connected with me. I wanted to talk about Google a little bit. I put myself out there as a Google guy, a Google expert, and that's hopefully get more clients. That's the intention. But what I'm getting instead are a lot of people, hey, my stuff's been suspended. What do I do? Or I never used it. And then I tried to start another one and I can't find my original. So I've got multiple ones out there and hey, my reviews aren't sticking. All of this comes down to trust issues. It all comes down to Google trust. I mean, think about it. It takes a cell phone, it takes an address to receive a postcard and a Gmail, and you can have a Google business profile. You can. And Google trusts none of you, which is crazy. They'll let you start a profile and then immediately punish you because they don't trust you. That's what it really comes down to. So you have to build that trust with Google. And how you do that is business referrals, digital business referrals. So just like you need referrals for anything, you can do this stuff digitally as well. And the Google bots go out and look for some kind of verification that you're a real company with a digital footprint. So everything has to match. You have to spoon feed them all this information at the beginning. So for instance, the most important aspects of this are your name, your address and your phone number. And they must match to the letter and the space everywhere. So your Facebook page needs to be named that with your address and phone number on that page. Your Yelp profile, whether you need one or not get one. It's really good validation to Google that you're real. It's another referral. And it's a lot easier to get reviews on Yelp. Not that I'm suggesting Yelp would change your business, but SEO tech geek wise, it helps your Google side. Bing people think nobody uses Bing. Okay, so I bought a new Dell computer. For the first 30 days, it kept trying to put me into being. And I know there's plenty of people that give up and end up using Bing on their desktops, so it can happen. But regardless, it's an incredibly powerful validator that you're legit. So Google's going to see that. That's a really, really good one. So you're looking for those things. They're called local citations. That's the tech jargon for that process, is getting local citations. We get all the strong ones and then go for hundreds more. Like, we want signals coming from all over the place that you're legit. That's really been the point of view of our strategy this last year, is developing, hey, what can we do to build more Google trust? And that's a big factor in your rankings. So if these are problems for you, let me know and I can help. If it's not been addressed, it should. So that is basically getting everything in order, getting the strong citations in order, getting everything to match, then it's a lot of work. So we offer it as a service just so it's done and off your, off your plate. And so that again helps everything with your Google trust. And making sure, for instance, reviews stick and reviews is a whole other topic. But that still comes down to trust. They either don't trust you or they don't trust the person that wrote it. Otherwise they would absolutely want to show the review. So again, more trust signals need to be considered when you're dealing with your Google profile.
