Short instructional video (American English) by Hadar Shemesh explaining how to pronounce the word "particularly." Hadar breaks the word into syllables (per - T - ic - u - lar - ly), highlights the primary stressed syllable (T as in sit) with pitch/length cues, notes reduced vowels and schwa usage, demonstrates an alternate easier pronunciation that drops the first R, and closes with a CTA to subscribe and visit her website.

Hi there. It's hadar. And this is the accent's way, your way to finding clarity, confidence and freedom in English. And today I'd like to talk to you about the word particularly and in particular how to pronounce it. So let's begin with the first syllable, per per. It's a p sound and then an r, per. So although there is the vowel, the vowel letter A, it's not pronounced as par, but it's reduced. Per per as in perfect or person. Then we shift to the primary stress T, a strong T sound, and the as in sit per T. Since it's the primary stress of the word, it's higher in pitch. Notice that I raised my pitch for it per T. And then it's also longer than the rest of the syllables, per tee. Then we shift to K, K K, a k sound. Then Y, Y as in yes or yay. And a schwa. All right? No U sound there, although it's spelled with a u. Particular. And then again a reduced vowel, lur, Lur An l. And then you shift to an R. Lur as in learn particular and. And then you end it with li li high e at the end, particularly. I don't particularly like to practice this word, but I have to. Particularly. Now, if you struggle with the R sound, you can drop the first R in this word and just say particularly. Particularly. That's also totally fine and a little easier. Alright, that's it. I hope this was helpful. If it was, please share it with your friends. They might enjoy it as well. And don't forget to subscribe if you haven't yet.
