Hadar Shemesh shows why raising your tongue too early blurs AR sounds. Keep your tongue low while you say the vowel, then lift it for the R. This separates "car," "care," and "cur" so they sound different.

Car. Car. The trickiest thing about R vowels is that people tend to bring the tongue up to pronounce the R too soon. If you lift the tongue up too soon, car, car, and then it's not clear if it's car, care, or cur. Keep the tongue down, and only when you hear the vowel fully pronounced, then you lift the tongue up for the R. Car. Park. Start. I parked the car too far and had to walk in the dark. My heart wasn't in it from the start.
