Hadar Shemesh argues that the only person limiting you is you. Your feelings of inauthenticity or limitation come from inside, not from language ability or what others think. Three practices: breathe, center yourself, repeat an affirmation to reclaim presence and confidence.

The only person limiting you is you. It's not the English. It's not other people. Even if you have experienced discrimination or judgment, it's not about them. It's about you. You are in full control over how you show up in the world and how you feel about yourself. Think of people who might not have the best English, but you feel like they are so expressive and funny and free, and they may not have all these limitations that you might feel. And then this is just proof that it's possible. So every time that feeling of, ooh, it's not me, I feel fake. I don't feel authentic. Just take a deep breath, center yourself and say to yourself, it's still me. Same body, same soul, same presence. So it's all a question of how I want to feel and how I want to show up and not let those external things impact you.
