Guilt is a way our minds have of applying a painful grip on the conduit through which our good feelings flow. Grip is tight hold or strong control, and conduit is a channel or pathway something moves through. So it's kind of like you have a channel through which good feelings flow, and then comes guilt, and guilt grips it and doesn't allow it to flow smoothly, right? So guilt interferes with all the good stuff that we can and should feel.
