This is a YouTube video titled "Discover What Your Tongue Can Do!" containing a discussion focused on how to gently engage children and parents in activities that promote oral function and myofunctional therapy. The speakers talk about making exercises fun and non-threatening to optimize growth and speech development. The content is educational and supportive, aimed at providers, parents, and children.
How do you think that we talk to kids or even parents, maybe if parents are listening or other providers without, like, scaring them or making them feel like they're broken? Because, like, there's. There's nothing wrong with them. Right. It's just, like, different. Do you have any thoughts on that?
It's like, we just want to help optimize function. We want to help optimize growth, optimize, you know, their speech, their swelling, like you said, their sleep. So I think, you know, just gentle exploration, basically, you know, while they're brushing their teeth or say you're, like, driving in the car and they're in the back seat with that open, resting mouth posture, you know, like, hey, you know, can you. Can we play a game together? Let's, you know, try to, you know, like, what do you. I mean, this is probably a good segue into the next book about, like, the myofunctional therapy. Like, can you, you know, blow bubbles or, you know, put your tongue side to side, or can you show me how you breathe through your nose? Just make it fun. And that's what I've tried to do with, like, my own kids. Like, one little thing that I do and you can talk more on this is, like, sometimes at, like, the end of the meal, if there's, like, just a little bit, not to say that they're like messy eaters, but if there's just like a little at the corner, say it's something, you know, they're eating or drinking. I'll be like, can you go like that? Just to kind of clean it up before I reach for the napkin or whatever.
