Hamel Husain argues that RAG isn't dead, just misunderstood. The real question isn't whether to use RAG but which retrieval method works best for your task: keyword search, regex, hybrid search, or something else entirely.
Have you ever heard the phrase RAG is dead? If you ever heard that, just know that it doesn't make any sense at all whatsoever. RAG stands for Retrieval Augmented Generation, and if you're doing any kind of retrieval at all, keyword search, regex, grep, it doesn't matter, you're doing RAG. What's really important is that you focus on what the best retrieval method is for you. A lot of times the best retrieval method is a hybrid search. If you want to learn more about RAG, and how to do it correctly, I left free resources in the comments.
