Disposable Laryngoscope

David Cooper from Medical Services introduces a disposable laryngoscope coming to stations. The blade has a matte finish to cut glare, the handle has a built-in LED that never needs replacing, and single-use design eliminates cross-contamination and decontamination work.

Hey everyone, it's David Cooper from the medical Services division. I'm here to introduce a new piece of equipment to you. It's not necessarily a new piece of equipment because laryngoscopes and blades have been on the truck. However, this is a new to us piece of equipment. So we want to take a moment to demonstrate to you exactly what this is. When these start showing up in your stations in a few weeks, I want you to have a heads up as what this is and how this is going to work. So if you look, let's start with the blades. The blades themselves have this nice matte finish so that you don't get the reflective glare whenever you're actually trying to intubate. It makes it easier to see your target. Second of all, it feels just like the other blades that we've had in the past. This is a nice metal feel. You're not going to notice any difference as far as how this is going to feel inside the patient's mouth. Also, it's got an LED light. Let me go ahead and hook this up and show you. This LED light on the handle never needs to be changed. So remember the days of unscrewing the light bulbs and putting in the new light bulbs and testing that in the morning. That doesn't need to be done anymore. You're going to love these new blades. Let's talk about the handle. The handle itself, nice, comfortable grip, which is really, really nice. Also, you can actually test the light source inside the package. So by depressing this button right here. Do this from the package. Do there's no need to open up this package in the morning and test your batteries, test your handle, test your light source. This can stay inside the protective package the whole time until it's time to use. This is going to be really, really helpful in preventing cross contamination as well. So like I said, handle feels good in your hands. It just clips right in. You can test that battery while it's in the package. You got a nice bright white light. The best and probably the greatest feature that you're going to absolutely love about these new laryngoscope blades is the fact that when you're done with the airway procedure, this entire thing goes right into the trash. There's no need to save the handle or the blade. There's no need to decontaminate anything. The entire thing goes right into the trash can. As soon as you're done with it, you're going to have replacement blades and handles at your station in your apparatus. So you just grab a new one and put it back and that's it. There's no more decontamination. There's no more waiting on your truck to get restocked. This process is going to be so much easier. I know you're going to love these things. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback. I'm looking forward to hearing from you in the field and see how much you love these. Thank you very much.
