Boy is alive and well tonight thanks to Kissimmee firefighters. The toddler was lifeless after he fell into the lake in his family's backyard. News 6's Vanessa Araiza is live in Kissimmee tonight where the firefighters were with the toddler again today. So Vanessa, how is that little boy doing?
He is absolutely wonderful, Lisa. The most beautiful eyes, bubbly spirit. But I can tell you for some reason he was able to make it out of his house and out into the yard through this gate here and onto the deck where he fell into the water. Murky waters, might I add. It was thanks to the family dog as well as those firefighters.
This is an incredibly successful story.
Wah. Let's look. You want to see? Look at that. It's beautiful. But you're not allowed down there.
Two year old Austin Young may not.
Be able to say the name of.
His two new friends just yet, but the story behind their meeting will forever be etched in these guys minds.
He was lifeless. Yeah, he wasn't breathing. He didn't have any pulses.
He was lifeless.
His eyes were gone.
It was a Tuesday afternoon when the guys were wrapping up one call and got sent to a home along Westchester Drive.
So we come around and the gate, we open it up and there's a father doing CPR on his 2 year old. So.
Sorry.
He opened the glass door while my husband was making dinner and he got through the screen door, opened our gate that did not have the lock on it at the time and went on the dock and fell in the water.
Austin had been in the lake for a few minutes before his dad found him. It was thanks to five month old golden retriever Charlie.
He did notice that Charlie was on the dock looking down and he jumped in the water and sure enough, right where she had put her head, he was about three feet under the water and if it wasn't for her, I really don't think we would have found him as fast as we did.
Austin was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. He's happy and healthy now.
You want to push some buttons.
And like any toddler, excited to play with new toys.
Those eyes, right? They're beautiful. The firefighters tell me that this was the first child drowning call that they were issued to or called to where the child survived. So they said that this is definitely one that they are absolutely going to remember. As for Austin and his parents, they plan to visit the firefighters once again tomorrow at the fire station live in Kissimmee. Tonight, Vanessa Ariza getting results. News six.
