A short, grandmother-style parenting monologue (YouTube) advising parents—especially mothers—to stop 'helicopter parenting' and allow children to face challenges. The speaker uses a helicopter-blade metaphor to argue that taking away responsibilities can ‘cut off’ children’s potential; she urges parents to let kids feel pain, take responsibility, do hard things, and thereby build strength and competence.

Grandmother advice here. Let your kids grow up. Let them do hard things. Let them see what's possible for their life. The problem with helicopter parenting is that sometimes you get so close that your blades can cut off the potential in your children. I imagine it like damaging my children when I take their responsibility or when I take the burdens on them and put them on myself. It hurts in two ways. It stops you from living the life that you have the potential to live. Also stops stops your children from stepping into their full potential as adults. One of the greatest things you can do for your kids is to allow them to feel pain and learn how to manage it. Allow them to take on responsibilities and execute them and do hard things and realize how strong and how competent they truly are. Sometimes it's hard as a mom, you don't want your kids to suffer. You don't want your kids to be in pain. But here's the truth. When we learn how to manage pain, we learn how to build strength, even though it may feel hard. Step out of the helicopter, step into your life, and allow your children to step into their life.
