Hey mama. Just a friendly reminder to keep your cool. Sometimes our children do not necessarily behave the way they should behave. Okay? A lot of times we will have a tendency to use emotions to respond to that behavior. We'll use anger to show them that we're very mad about something they did. Or we'll use sadness and start crying to show them that their behavior caused us emotional pain. It's just a way to use emotional coercion. Using your emotions to try to manipulate your children's behavior. Why don't we use compassionate discipline? I don't have to let emotions come into the equation. I can operate as a professional, as a mother, I can just apply consequences which look like discipline. The point of discipline is not to punish our children but to help them become self disciplined. Discipline is actually a very compassionate behavior if we can manage it appropriately. Here is the behavior, here are the consequences. Leave emotions out of the equation.
