Sunday the 11th of September saw the welcome return of the Heathrow Bonsai Show, the first since COVID restrictions have ended. This has long been a special show in the bonsai calendar here in the UK, as it features trees of all levels on display to the general public. Free entry is restricted to club members only, And over 35 different clubs from across the UK were represented at the show this year. This can result in fairly cramped display areas, but its inclusive nature generates huge enthusiasm for bonsai enthusiasts of all levels. I spent most of the day working on the joint Bonsai4Me and ProBioCarbons stand with Dr. Karen O'Hanlon. who had flown in specially from Dublin, but apprentice Saida Bass took plenty of footage of the displays as well as some of the vendors over the course of the day. So here follows a tour of the show featuring hundreds of bonsais of shape— all shapes and sizes. There were no individual tree prizes, but the award for the best club display went to the Shiton Bonsai Group for a superb set of bonsai. Keep watching through the video. There are some great trees there and some very good design ideas.
