How to Find Inspiration When You’re Uninspired

Jesse Ecker (Managing Director, Harv Eker International) explains his step-by-step process for finding inspiration and creating a short video when uninspired. He clears his head by walking, brainstorms audience challenges, selects a resonant topic (lack of confidence), then frames the video by listing common frustrations and three principles to build confidence: set yourself up to win, "act as if," and forget about outcomes. He finishes by practicing and recording the video and invites viewers to like, comment, and subscribe.

Hey, it's Jesse Ecker. And right now I'm supposed to be making a video for the Millionaire mindset, which is what you are watching right now. But I'm lacking some inspiration. So I'm going to take you through my process for finding inspiration and share the steps that I take for getting inspiration, finding my purpose, and what I'm doing with my video, and then making hopefully a rock solid video for you. Okay, step number one, Go for a walk, get out of your office, get out of the way, start to move a little bit, start to, you know, get some fresh air if you can. I don't know if you're on lockdown still, but just clear your head and get out of the way. That's really going to start to at least get my mind stop racing on am I going to make a good video or not? And start getting into the mindset of just letting ideas come to me. All right, now that I went for my walk and cleared my head, I have some good ideas that are starting to race through my head. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to start writing down a few of the challenges and struggles that I'm finding some of our students and potential students are running into for some topics and some core concepts that I can hopefully create an awesome video about. Okay, so I got my list of things. I'm going to show it to you really fast. Got a couple ideas right here. Not clear on what you want to do next. How to get better results, making the right decision, beating yourself up for not getting some good results, or just beating yourself in general for not doing what you say you're going to do, and then lack of confidence. So then I'm going to just pick my. What I'm feeling is something that I can deliver, something great on. I feel like I could do all of these. But what really starts to speak to me is the one that says lack of confidence. So I want to make something on that. All right, so I just picked the topic that I was going to make the video on. I'm pretty stoked on it, and now I'm feeling a lot more inspired just because I now have a purpose for what I'm doing. I took some time to just write it all out, and I actually feel much better about the video I'm about to make. So this video is actually going to show you how I've gone about and created this content, but I'm going to show you exactly what I did to write this out. Okay. So as you can See, right now I chose lack of confidence. And the way that I like to start my videos is for people to understand. When you have a lack of confidence, these are the frustrations you tend to have. So you tend to, you play small, you don't trust your decision making and then you never really get the results that you want because you're lacking the confidence to actually move forward. But here's some great principles that help you with gaining more confidence. Well, one is if you want to gain more confidence, you ought to set yourself up to win more often. You also have to pretend as if, meaning like, let's pretend like I am the world's best. How would they show up? How would they be? What actions would they be taking? Which helps gain some confidence. And then the final one is, forget about the outcomes. Listen, we can't control the results that we get in our life and we're usually paralyzed by the results that our potential in our lives. And that's why we're not moving forward with we're doing. So if we can just lose the outcome and lose the results of, hey, I need to be this certain way to get a certain result or I need to do this certain thing to get a result, then we tend to take some pressure off what we're doing and we tend to move forward and take some action. So I feel like I was able to put together a pretty good video and now I just need to work it through, practice it a few different times and make sure that I'm fully prepared to make a video for the next Millionaire mindset newsletter. So that's how I went about creating content when I was feeling a little bit uninspired at the moment. I just finished this crazy five day challenge with, you know, over five plus hours of trainings and content creation. So my head was a bit jumbled and I was trying to figure out what do I want to say, what do I want to do. It was like starting with a blank piece of paper. But I was able to really easily get myself into momentum, into progression just by doing a few simple steps. And that's how I took my process of creating content.
