Hi, this is Gary Brecke with Streamline Medical Group. And today's discussion is about BCAAs. Branched chain amino acids. Most of us have heard of amino acids because these are the essential building blocks of protein and they're found all throughout the body. There are 22amino acids in the body, of which nine of those amino acids are what they call essential amino acids. What does essential mean? Essential amino acid is an amino acid that your body does not synthesize and therefore that amino acid must come from diet or supplementation. Within those nine essential amino acids are three critically important amino acids. They are so important that Streamline Medical Group isolates these three into a singular injection. And I will explain to you why. These are called the branched chain amino acids. They are leucine, isoleucine and valine. They're also not made by the body, so they have to be found in diet or supplementation. You find them in meat, eggs or most of our bodybuilding supplements. But these are the three amino acids most commonly used for building muscle, improving exercise performance, decreasing post exercise soreness, rapidly improving recovery time, and also providing the muscle the fuel that they need right at the muscle level. Why are they so important? And this is something that all of you need to understand. They are so important because they are metabolized directly at the muscle level. All other amino acids in circulation go through our liver. So this means that the branched chain amino acids are the only amino acids that our muscles are actively using during exercise. They are primarily used in lean muscle mass.
