This YouTube interview segment features Poonacha Machaiah explaining how assistive technologies (VR, binaural beats, light-strobe entrainment) can be used to shift brain states—from active beta to relaxed alpha/theta/delta—to prepare participants for psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions.

Yes. I think if you look at a session, I've been really looking at how do I take a session and kind of either increase it using assistive technology. So today, if I say everything I see in the world is a sift, a sensation, an image, a feeling and a thought, I can change my reality of the universe, right? So if I'm actually going through a VR session and I'm actually imagining, so I can do what I call brain entrainment, right? So if I'm using a light assistant, if I'm actually strobing a certain frequency, my visual cortex. So basically I go from active beta to alpha, theta and delta. I can use binaural beats for sound. And all of a sudden I can use VR and sound to kind of take me from a very active state to a rest and relaxation state, right? Pretty much what I would do with music and things like that. So I want to kind of use some of these technologies to really get you ready for a psychedelic session.
