A tax preparer built an RPA bot that logs into client portals, extracts data from documents, and completes tax returns in seconds instead of days. The automation eliminates manual data entry and human variability, letting the business scale without hiring more staff.

What we used to have to do was go into this portal and look at all the documents and then either have them scanned or the data entry people take the information off of those documents and transfer it to the software that prepares the first version of the tax return. So now we've automated all that so that a robotic process automation bot goes into the portal, logs in, gets the information the customer uploaded, connects with the software that does the tax return, extracts all of the needed information, puts it into the right form and forms spaces, sums the things that need to be added, subtracts the things that need to be subtracted. And then all of that data entry work now happens in seconds that used to take days. And it happens without an employee that calls in sick, that's having a bad day, that's only productive 2 or 3 hours a day anyway, that's asking for a raise or quitting. That's really, to me, the biggest thing that helps us scale.
