Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment?

Heather Prince explains why you say things you regret in arguments: your body's stress response, not weakness. She introduces M.A.R.E., a framework built on ma, the Japanese concept of intentional pause, to let your nervous system settle before you speak and break cycles of over-reacting.

Hello, Heather Prince here, intuitive relationship coach, and today I'm talking to the divine feminine, but saying that, this video is obviously open for men and women to watch. My question to all of you watching this video today is, have you ever said something in the heat of the moment And instantly wished you could take it back. I think we've all done it, haven't we? That's not because you're too emotional; it's because your body has already gone into stress mode. So there's a Japanese concept called ma. It means the space. Between things, the pause, the silence, and most people completely ignore it. But here's the truth. When you're in a difficult conversation, especially regarding relationships, your body isn't calm. Your cortisol levels are rising. Your nervous system is going into fight, flight, or freeze. Fight, flight, or freeze. Or flight, and in that state, you're not responding with love, you're reacting from protection. This is why arguments escalate so quickly. It's not really about what was said, it's about what your body is feeling, and this is where M.A.R.E. changes everything. Instead of reacting immediately, You pause, even just a few seconds of silence. No defending, no explaining, no trying to fix it, just space. Because in that space, your nervous system has a chance to settle. Your heart rate slows, your cortisol begins to drop, And you come back into yourself. Now you're not the triggered version of you, you're the grounded version of you, and that version doesn't create damage in relationships. If you're honest, you've probably been in situations where you felt Unheard, dismissed, or even invisible. And before you even realized it, you were reacting, overexplaining, or shutting down completely. Then later, you're lying in bed replaying it all, thinking, why did I say that? Why couldn't I just stay calm? It's not because you're doing anything wrong, it's because no one taught you how to create space within yourself. Ma is not just silence, it's self-leadership, it's choosing not to abandon yourself in the moment. It's where emotional patterns start to break because when you stop reacting, you stop feeding the same cycle and that's how everything begins to change. If you're someone who finds yourself caught in these emotional patterns, overthinking, Reacting and then regretting it later. This is exactly the work I do. I help you create that inner calm so you can feel in control of yourself again and finally experience relationships that feel safe, not stressful. If that speaks to you, I've put a free self-worth workbook in the bio or in the comments below. So let's start. There.
