Micro Class: #Repeat

Short video micro-class by Brian Johnson explaining that systems are 'good strategies repeated.' He advises identifying the behaviors and routines that produce your best days (sleep, exercise, diet, focus, relationships), repeating and refining them to compound improvements, and thereby optimize living. The clip also promotes Brian's Philosopher's Notes and Optimal Living 101 classes/membership.

Foreign. This is Brian. Welcome back to another micro class. This one's on repeat. It's inspired by how successful people think. One of the 11 ways that successful people think is they think strategically. And John Maxwell shares a great phrase that I want to capture now. He says that systems are simply good strategies repeated. Systems are simply good strategies repeated. Now, in the context of his chapter on strategy, he's talking about everything from high level vision and you got to break it down into smaller components and line up your dominoes and go crush it. But then he's talking about strategic thinking with our lives and how to manage your life. And I love this phrase. I'm going to do a class on systems 101 at some point and this is going to be the cornerstone. Systems are really simple. They're simply good strategies repeated. So let's apply that to our lives and specifically to our fundamentals. This is not complicated stuff. What do you do when you're on? When you're having your best days? What do you do? How much sleep do you get? Do you exercise? Do you eat well? Who do you hang out with? What are you doing, how are you focusing, etc. What are the qualities that drive your awesome days? What good strategies do you employ when you're on and you have a string of awesome days or weeks or months or whatever? Well, guess what? All we need to do is identify those good strategies and then repeat them again and again and again and refine them a little bit. And you compound that consistency over time and you're optimized and you're actualized. This whole game we're playing is actually really, really simple. Do more of what works and less of what doesn't. Identify your good strategies, repeat them, and you bake in great systems to make awesome days much more likely. Systems 101. Hashtag, repeat. Identify what works, do it more often and enjoy the process. Go through this exercise. What are you doing on your days that work? What are your good strategies? What are your not so good strategies? How do you do more of the good stuff and enjoy the process? Have an awesome day. See ya. Isn't it a bit odd that we went from math to science to history, but somehow missed the class on how to live? For some wacky reason, optimal living 101 never made the schedule. Of course, it's too late to go back and change that and you're too busy to read full time to catch up yet. If you're like us, you're all about optimizing your life and actualizing your potential. So imagine this. Imagine having someone read the best books on optimal living and pulling out the big ideas that can truly change your life. You know those sections you asterisk and underline and mark all up? Then imagine that guy me connecting those ideas to other great books and helping you apply them to your life today. Well, that's what I do with something we call Philosopher's Notes where I break down each great book into a simple 6 page PDF, 20 minute MP3 and 10 minute Philosopher's Notes TV episode. Then imagine me taking the absolute best big ideas from those great books and sharing them with you in fun, inspiring, Super Practical Optimal Living 101 classes on stuff like Purpose 101 Confidence 101 Business 101 Meditation 101 that sort of thing. You've got a personal trainer. I'm kind of like you, your personal philosopher. Ancient Wisdom plus Modern Science plus Common Sense plus Virtue plus Mastery plus Fun. That's what our optimized membership program is all about. We'd love to have you join us. Check us out at BrianJohnson. Me join.
