A short YouTube mini-chapter by Brian Johnson promoting the action-oriented mantra “Now what needs to be done?” drawn from David Reynolds’s book Constructive Living. Johnson encourages taking small, positive actions to change feelings ("feelings follow behavior"), offers a personal anecdote about a tattoo symbolizing self-mastery, and closes with a motivational call to make today an awesome day.

Hi, this is Brian with another mini chapter from A Philosopher's Notes. This one's called the now what needs to be done? Feeling depressed? Don't want to get out of bed. Sweet. Now what needs to be done? Feeling overwhelmed and want to give up? Awesome. Now what needs to be done? Feeling. Insert your favorite crappy emotional state here and want to insert your favorite coping mechanism here. Rockin' now what needs to be done? Now what needs to be done? Now what needs to be done? Now what needs to be done? That's the mantra of David Reynolds's awesome little book Constructive Living, which wins my award for best book you've probably never heard of. It's a genius recommendation from my friend Dan Millman. Thank you, Dan. Somewhat random side note, I have a tattoo of the Sanskrit symbol for the third chakra on the inside of my right wrist that represents the power of self mastery. Reminds me to live impeccably. It's basically shorthand for now what needs to be done. So whenever you're feeling funky, just know that there's only one thing that needs to get done and do it. Move forward. Take the baby step. As David Reynolds also says, feelings follow behavior. We take action, then we feel a certain way. If you want to feel good, take positive action. Now what needs to be done? Let's make that our mantra today and make today an awesome day. Hope you enjoyed. Look forward to sharing more with you soon. See you.
