Sizes: You vs. Your Problems

Brian Johnson uses a 1-10 scale to show how small people blow up over trivial annoyances like a stubbed toe, while bigger people stay composed. The fix: live your values moment-to-moment to grow in size and integrity.
Chapters
Hi, this is Brian with another mini chapter from A Philosopher's Notes. This one's called sizes. You versus your problems. Let's say on a scale of 1 to 10, you're a size 1 or 2 person. You stub your toe in the morning or someone cuts you off on your way to work. Those are size one problems. How do you respond? You'll probably get all pissy, huh? And for the record, if you're the kind of person who honks and yells and gets all road ragey, you're about a 28. Now let's say you're a size 8 or 9 person. Same stubbed toe and same person cutting you off. How do you respond? Now you might just wince, take a deep breath, appreciate the fact that you're alive and your biggest problem at the moment is a stubbed toe, and you might even bless that person who's in such a rush and wish them a safe trip and a more peaceful day. Keep that in mind the next time you yell at someone on the freeway or or otherwise get upset by something so trivial. No need for us to be such small people in these precious lives of ours, huh? P.S. the way to go from 1 to 10 simple. Live your values moment to moment. Little by little, become more in integrity so that what you say is important to you is what you actually do. Integrity. It's organic fertilizer for your character. So let's recognize our size versus the size of our problems and become bigger people. Here's to going from wherever we are to 10 plus. Hope you enjoyed. Have an awesome day. Look forward to sharing more with you soon.
