Brian Johnson argues that when life gets hard, you need to double down on your personal protocols instead of abandoning them. He calls this building antifragile confidence: practices that get stronger under pressure. Define your big three virtues and refine them constantly.

The worse you feel, the more committed you are to your protocol. I would quadruple down on my protocol. Literally nothing is more important than me putting my oxygen mask on. And when do I put the oxygen mask on? Do I put it when it's smooth flying? No. The whole point is you put it on when you're approaching a crash and things are catastrophic. That's when you need to put the oxygen on. Heroes have strength for two. Heroes don't fall apart. When things get hard, they get stronger. And this is the thing that I'm trying to teach more than anything else is how to forge antifragile confidence, where the more life kicks you around, the stronger you get. I am such a better man and husband and father and entrepreneur and leader right now because of that than I've ever been. So we need to know who you are at your best in your energy, what your identity is, what your virtues are, what the behaviors are that you hit top. Three things, dude, and I want you moving them around. Right now. You should be crafting your big three more than ever. They're not the same as they were two weeks ago. And I hope that this is giving you the Memento Mori push of, well, my God, I'm not going to live forever.
