A short motivational mini-chapter by Brian Johnson that retells a story from John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress about a "magic shield" which grants invincibility only if the hero faces problems head-on. Johnson uses the story to urge listeners to confront fears rather than avoid them, offering the practical prompt: pick up your shield and head toward your challenges.

Hi, this is Brian with another mini chapter from A Philosopher's Notes. This one's called the Magic Shield. Now, I haven't read it myself yet, but apparently there's an awesome story in John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress about a guy with a magic shield. Get this. The hero of this little story has a shield that makes him invincible. There's just one condition. Our hero has to face his problems and challenges head on with the shield in front of him. He does that and he's invincible. If, on the other hand, he gets a little freaked out and runs away from or avoids his challenges, he's suddenly vulnerable. Question Are you avoiding anything in your life? Suggestion. Pick up your shield and head toward your fears. There you go. The magic shield. Head toward your fears. You won't quite be invincible, but you're going to be a heck of a lot more powerful than if you run away. You're going to be really vulnerable if we avoid our challenges. So let's pick up the magic shield and head straight toward our problems and watch your power grow. Hope you enjoyed. Look forward to sharing more with you soon. As always, have another awesome day.
