Hesed Ojieh argues that true influence comes from your inner spiritual light, not hair, nails, clothes, or money. People follow the light even when they dislike you. A barber's patience, a wealthy man's simple clothes, an uncle's valuable gift: the light draws them in regardless.

You made your hair, you made your feet, you bought new glasses, you bought everything, and you still have only one view. So it's not where— am I talking to you? It's not where you are, it's if you're light. Hallelujah! Have you seen people that they know God has called them to preach behind the camera? They keep complaining, I have not made my hair, I have not made my dress, and if I make my hair, it's only when I make my hair and I'm preaching, I I'm able to show them I just made my nails. So, you know, God said, the word of the Lord— nobody wants to know your nails or no one to know your face. Do you have the light that men need? Do you have the light that men can follow you? You see, don't misunderstand me, all of the nails are good. All of— sometimes my hair, I struggle to cut my hair because the guy who cuts my hair takes like 40 minutes. I have 40 minutes in my life, is a long time. So when I get to cutting my hair, I tell him, brother, can you do this in 20 minutes? He says, no, I have to do it nice, brother. I said, don't mind what is nice. It's not what is on my head that is— that matters. What's in my spirit that matters. So just cut the head the way it is. You know what I mean? You don't have to sit down to make your hair for 20 hours for your star to shine. You can come— how many of you have seen wealthy people come out and just wear pants and shirt and shorts? And just wave their hand, you just know, wow, this guy must be rich. But look at yourself, you want all the Demos and all the Denny's and all the shirts, nothing happens. What makes men different is the star that God places on your heads, is the thing that God causes you to light, is the thing that God told me to tell you this morning. If you don't have stars, you will never do anything tangible for God because you have— listen, very important— your followership is determined by the light you bring. Let me break it down. If I turn off this whole light now, everywhere is dark, and Killam takes his phone, turns on the light, and he begins to say, 'This is the way.' He has the light. How many of you are going to begin to curse this brother and say, 'Brother, what color are you wearing? Are you wearing— are you tall or short? Are you green or yellow?' Are you Indian or Mexican? Who cares? The brother has the light and we just have to follow him. When we come out, we can argue with him, but he has the light. When you have the light, people can argue with you, but they will follow you. When you have the light, people can argue with you, they will hate you, but they will follow you. When you have the light, hallelujah, people will be excited even if they don't like you. How many of you have had uncles that you don't like, that are disrespectful, but when they come to family meetings, they bring things that you want? Then you greet them in a nice way. Uncle, good Good morning, Uncle. Good morning. It's because of what they bring. It is the light that makes men different. I pray for you that your light will turn— be turned on this morning.
