Abbey & Elijah Make Banana Bread | Cooking with Holly

A short, informal YouTube cooking video (Cooking with Holly channel) where Abbey teaches Elijah to make Joanna Gaines’ "after school" banana bread. The transcript covers preheating the oven to 350°F, melting butter, peeling and mashing four bananas, combining wet and dry ingredients (they mention mixing mistakes), adding two large beaten eggs and chips, baking on the middle rack, then a tasting with a guest (Kelsey) and closing remarks. The tone is light-hearted and conversational with some joking and minor procedural mistakes.

Is rolling, so.
Okay, let me do this one.
No, that. We have to retake it. Guys. That picture is so bad.
You don't need it. Work on it. Today we are making after school. Start.
Stop.
Again. What's up, guys? All right, today we are going to be making.
Didn't say much.
What's up, guys? What's up, guys? Today we are going to be. I'm going to be teaching Elijah how to make Joanna Cane's after school banana bread.
Isn't that the girl that does, like, a house renovation show? Yes. Yeah.
What you're going to need, we have all of us out already. But what you're gonna need. No. Okay. Vanilla extract Butter. I can't speak. Okay, you gotta keep it in the.
Frame while you're reading. Hi.
I have to read off.
I don't have to announce all the ingredients. Just start cooking.
Okay, whatever. All right, so the first thing we're going to do is preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Second thing. Okay, we have all our stuff. So the first thing, spray the pan. Do this whole thing. Melt this whole. Do you know how to do that? So take this bowl, put it in there, and then figure out how to melt it in the microwave. There's a specific setting you need to put it.
Okay. Do I open?
Yeah.
Oh, that's so nasty. I just touched the butter.
The butter is delicious.
I know, but I don't like the feeling of it.
So while we're waiting, go ahead. And, mom, can you get us some brown sugar, please? Okay. Butter's melty.
Butter's melted.
So get this butter out.
There you go. I can see it.
Oh, gosh. Peel four of those bananas and mash them in with the butter.
That's not a nasty. Bananas and butter. Also, this one is expired.
No, that's why it's ripe. That's why we.
No, no. Ah. This one's too soft, guys.
That's why we're using it because.
Oh, that's so nice. You use old bananas.
Abby, tell the camera.
Okay.
One of the best.
Do you ever have bananas that go bad? Do you guys ever have bananas that go bad? Well, then you can make banana panda bread, because this is a commercial. You're stressing me out. Okay, so we're gonna mix this up.
Ah, it's so nasty. I don't like cooking. It's too nasty.
Elijah, can you get me the cups, please? Okay, so I have my cup. We're going to take this. The recipe calls for it to be packed, so we're, like, pressing it down on top. So then we have to get this new bag.
Okay. I feel like I'm not doing a lot of cooking.
You literally have done everything else up until now. But I don't like you doing this because you work on complaining too much.
I was not complaining. I'm gonna take over now. Here's the eggs, guys. So it says, put how many eggs? Two large eggs, beaten. So where's the butter? It doesn't say anything about the bananas. What is this brown liquid on top of it?
Didn't say anything about the vanilla. Oh, my gosh.
You're.
You. Okay, move over. All right, guys, so here's what we're gonna do from now on. We're gonna let me do it, and I'm gonna teach Elijah.
Yes. Boom. All right, so now we have our vanilla.
Move everything over here. Can you give me the spoon?
I don't think that. Huh?
A three, four cup. So now we're gonna take this all. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Here. Yes.
You're missing two ingredients very important.
Baking soda and salt. Can we do that? All right, one more.
One more.
It was a half, but I couldn't marry.
So do we have everything in here?
No, we need baking soda. Baking soda.
So leave it here.
Yes, I know. That's what I'm trying to do. That needs to be perfect. You can.
Oh, then it's crazy that. That little of an amount of a substance.
Okay, so now we're actually going to take.
That's not a sermon, right? Okay. Okay.
So we're going to put everything in this pool.
If you let a little bit of sin into your life, then you turn into a sinner. I don't know. It needs work, but it's clicking up. I'll get my dad to come help me.
All right.
Ooh. We were not supposed to just put all of them in one thing at the same time. We're supposed to mix the dry and the wet ingredients separately and then mix them together.
We did.
We didn't do that.
It's fine.
Strawberry chips.
Is this the last ingredient? Yeah, I'm thinking I poked it in. Sad.
Does it feel like enough chocolate chips.
Or you think it needs more? Are those regular?
What kind?
I think those might be peanut butter. You want to put peanut butter chips and the banana bread. Wait, wait, wait. Okay, Elijah, what if it's not good?
It's called experimenting. It's so hot. Is this like gunning oven gloves to do this?
No.
You're going to be fine.
This is scary, guys.
Do I put on the top shelf or middle? Middle.
And now we wait. We did a good thing to do. Our heads. You can't stop reading for the hug.
My kitchen is trashed cookbook. Joanna would be. Joanna Gaines would be so sad the way that you guys mistreated her cookbook.
Hello.
Look at this. Trashed. Trashed. All right, guys, our banana bread is ready. We have a special taste tester.
What's up, guys?
Kelsey. All right.
All right.
Are you ready?
Two, one.
Cheers. It's so good. Yeah.
Good job, guys.
Not really a big banana bread guy. As far as banana bread goes, this is solid banana bread made by yours truly and Abby.
Okay? So thank you guys so much for watching. We'll see you on the next video.
