Holly Furtick demonstrates how to make an Easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake for a family birthday. She prepares a yellow cake (options: box mix, zhuzhed box mix, or from-scratch), pokes holes in the warm cake and pours melted peanut butter into them, then tops the cake with a homemade chocolate buttercream icing. The video includes modifications for skill level and dietary needs (e.g., dairy-free coconut cream instead of heavy cream), a tip to use a water-bottle straw to poke holes, and a doubled icing recipe intended to cover a two-layer cake.

Camera's going. It's still warm. It's so good. I could eat that plate. Much better. Topo chico. Best drink in the world. So refreshing. I wish my camera. Yes, perfect. What's up, guys? Welcome to my YouTube channel. Here we are again. Today it's another birthday in the Furtick household, which means another birthday cake. A couple months ago, Abby's birthday back in March, we did her strawberry birthday cake. So pretty. Now this is a birthday cake that Elijah has requested. It's a recipe that my mom, I don't know if she invented it, but my mom made it when I was a kid. We're going to be making a yellow cake with a layer of peanut butter and then homemade buttercream icing. So what I have already done is I have made my yellow cake now. You can do this. I'm going to give you, you know how like when you're exercising, they give you modifications. So I'm going to give you modifications today. The first modification is you just make a yellow box cake. Okay. If you want to be super extra advanced level, you can find a from scratch yellow cake recipe or you can be in the middle with me and you can kind of, you know, like zhuzh up your box cake. So I'm gonna put the recipe below and you follow that recipe to make this yellow cake. Then. So you're gonna bake your cake and then while it's still a little bit warm, we're gonna add the peanut butter. And I'm just gonna get a huge scoop here just like that. And we're gonna give this a little bit of thyme in the microwave. While the peanut butter is melting, we're going to make holes in our cake. Now this that I'm using to poke the holes is a very fancy kitchen instrument called a water bottle straw. And we're just gonna poke holes in the cake like this. We've got. Mmm. It's still warm. It's so good. I could eat that plain peanut butter, which is nice and melted. Let's see if I can show you this. It's not like totally melted. I just want it to be spreadable. Watch this. Very complicated. We're gonna pour it into these holes, spread it around. Love peanut butter. We're letting this cool. We're gonna let the peanut butter soak in. And meanwhile, I'm gonna make a chocolate buttercream icing. Now remember, we're gonna doing modifications on this. So if you want to go and buy a jar of the chocolate fudge icing, spread it over your Top of your cake and be done with it. Nobody will know. Well, I would know, but most people won't know. If you want to make your own chocolate buttercream icing, here's how you do it. This is a chocolate icing that does not require any type of heat or cooking. And it is so delicious. This recipe I've doubled so it makes enough for you to do a two layer cake. If you want to ice a two layer cake, we're going to have plenty of icing. But can you ever have enough icing? I don't think so. We start off with our two sticks of butter. Here's everything that's in this. We're going to have six cups of powdered sugar. We're going to have two and a half teaspoons of vanilla. We've got two thirds. Cup of heavy whipping cream is what I use. And you're dairy free. You can use coconut cream. I used it one time for a friend who was dairy free. Could not taste the difference. I just didn't have any today. And then we've got cocoa powder. I didn't sift anything because I don't think it matters. I like to use this little guy on my mixer. Not sure if it matters, but that's the one that I like. We're going to start by whipping our butter a little bit. Wait, that doesn't sound right. What is happening here? Let's try that again. I see it got bent back. Butter is nice and whipped. Should look like this. So now we're just going to add a little bit of everything. Mix a little bit of everything. If you dump all the sugar in and put it on high, you're going to have a huge mess. So you just want to go slow while you're adding the sugar with. I need a cup. Okay. Also here's another tip. Sometimes have you ever lost count while you were adding in? Because obviously six cups you can easily. I try to keep a little pencil and I make tally marks. So here's my first one. And now I'm going to add a little bit of my cream. You don't have to measure. Just a little bit. A little bit of my vanilla, a little bit of my cocoa powder. Give it a little blend. Doesn't have to be perfect. So we're just going to keep going with it. Here comes three. All right, now all of my ingredients are combined. We're gonna scrape down the sides and then we're gonna let it whip for a couple minutes. All right. Can you see it? It's nice and fluffy. Let's check this out. Yum. So, good taste test? Yep. Better than canned icing. Nothing against modifications. Sometimes you don't have time. You got time. You got to try this. Here we go. Let's ice this cake. Now, this is easy. Just put it on. Happy birthday, Elijah. Love it. I love it. Wow.
