A short excerpt of a Holly Furtick sermon titled "Loving Beyond Differences" (YouTube). Furtick emphasizes that the true measure of one's relationship with God is how one treats others—especially those you disagree with or who have treated you poorly—and cites Luke 6 to urge loving enemies, doing good without expectation of repayment, and mirroring God’s compassion.

I heard a preacher once say that the greatest indication of your relationship with God is how you treat others, and not just how you treat the people that you love. Although some of us treat the people we love the worst. But it's how you treat the people you don't understand. It's how you treat the people you don't agree with. It's how you treat people who have perhaps treated you poorly. In Luke 6, Jesus says, if you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them. Love your enemies, do good to them, lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
