The Secret of Strength | Holly Furtick

A short YouTube video segment featuring Holly Furtick (with another speaker) discussing how spiritual strength is built through consistent practices—daily scripture reading, prayer, and long-term preparation—rather than only in moments of crisis. Holly cites biblical examples (Hannah’s and Mary’s prayers) to show how past spiritual formation provides strength for future challenges; the video opens with a promo for Elevation Nights and closes with a subscription call-to-action.

It's so easy in life to see other people's strengths. I can tell you everything about your guys strengths. You know what I mean? Like, I know what you're good at. I know what you're good at. I know what my wife's good at. I know what my kids are good at. It's very difficult to think that I'm good at something, you know, but it ties into the, you know, being able to love who I am, that God has created me this way. So it's that. But also that strength comes through consistent communication with God as well. And that was a challenge to me as well because, you know, I work at a church, but it's like setting aside that time where it's like every day I need to be in the Word. Like, I like that's a challenge for me. You know, it's not like the first thing on my mind when I get up and say like, hey, you know what, I need to be in the Word. But I've adjusted that honestly in the season, through this and through just feeling like, you know, what if I want to be strong in who God has created me to be, it has to be a priority.
Yeah.
There has to be things in my life that I change and to make a priority so that I can say like, no, God, like, I do feel like who you've created me to be. I'm confident in it and I can see the strengths that you're building in me. And so it has become the first thing that I do. I get up in the morning and I said, I'm going to be earlier to wake, I'm going to go downstairs, I'm Going to read some scripture first thing in the morning. And. And it's not easy, though, because I don't want to do it.
No, I know.
You know what I mean? I don't want to do it.
I'm a pastor's wife, and at the beginning of the year, I said to my husband, I was like, I got to read my Bible more. And it's hard. But isn't it interesting, the correlation that we have between strength and work, Right. Working out, right? Like, everybody knows if you want to have muscles, you have to lift. If you want to look like Steven Furtick, you have to lift weights, right? And so that's common. And we all know that that's a lot of work. And I think we all make a choice, like, do I want to do the work that it takes to have physical strength? Well, I don't know. Maybe. So I'm married to a man who has physical strength, so I'm not so concerned about being. Putting all my time and effort into that. But then I think a lot of times in the Christian life, we're like, well, I'm just not. I'm just not strong, and I just don't have the strength that you have. I could never go through what you've been through. I would never survive that. Well, yes, you would. But you have to put in the work to get strong. And so in order to build spiritual strength, you have to put in the work to do that. And the amazing thing, I feel like I'm preaching to the choir because pretty much everybody that's watching this has been going through this study. So all along, we're building the strength that we need for tomorrow. Right? And, Brittany, I want you to read some. Some comments in just a second. But I was reading this week the passage about Hannah in First Samuel. I think it's First Samuel, chapter two. No, chapter one and two. So Hannah is this woman. She is barren. She prays for God to give her a child. She's. And she dedicates her child to the Lord, and that child ends up becoming Samuel. If you have never read the story, it's in First Samuel, chapter one and two. Well, then in chapter two, we have what's called Hannah's Prayer. And when I was reading Hannah's Prayer, I realized that I had heard it before. I was like, wait, I know this passage of scripture. Well, Hannah's Prayer and Mary's Prayer, like, I don't know, like a thousand years later, right? About a thousand years later, we have Mary's Prayer. And if you. If you, here's your homework assignment for today. Go and read both of those prayers. Mary's is found in Luke, chapter one. And in Mary's prayer you find almost exact phrases that come out of Hannah's prayer. Right? And so I was. Did a little. I wouldn't even say study a little Google search. And a lot of people believe that Mary knew Hannah's prayer, that some, at some point in her life, she had studied that prayer. And so in the moment where she needed it the most, this angel has come to her and he says, you know, you're going to give birth to God's son. In the moment where she needed that strength, she was drawing from something that she'd done in the past. Right? And so that's how we develop spiritual strength. It's not in the moment of our greatest need. It's the days and the months and the years that lead up to that. And that's what I think. It's like lifting weights, developing that spiritual strength. And that's just something that God's really been speaking to me a lot about in my life, is if you see someone and you're like, man, that, that, that woman, she's a woman of God. He's a man of God. I could never be like that. Well, they've done some things that's right in their life to get to that point of what you're seeing the fruit of now.
My goodness.
Hey, thanks for watching. I hope that that encouraged you today. Make sure that you subscribe so that you don't miss out on other videos like this. And I'll see you back here next.
