What God Wants to Say to You | Holly Furtick

This is a short YouTube message by Holly Furtick about how to hear God's voice. She explains that God can use many channels (sermons, songs, creation, trusted people) to speak, that perceived messages must not contradict Scripture, and that Scripture itself should be read regularly because God uses it to speak. She shares a personal story about a women’s Bible study and reads several encouraging Bible passages (Romans 8:38–39; Matthew 6:26; 1 John 3:1; 1 Peter 2:9; Isaiah 43; Romans 8:31). The tone is pastoral, encouraging, and instructive.

So how do we hear God's voice? Well, first of all, we understand that God can use anything and anyone to speak to us. He can use a sermon. He can use a song, a movie, a beautiful summer day or a starry night, and a conversation with a trusted friend or family member, or even an advisor in your life. I've shared before that I have a Bible study that many of the women of our church have done. It's called Becoming Mrs. Betterhalf. And it started as an egroup in my home. For years, in fact, I just did session after session with different groups of women. And then one day, several of my friends said to me, holly, you really need to record this so that all the women of our church can have the opportunity to do this. As I think back on that, I don't even know if I would be standing here before you today if it wasn't for that conversation with those friends. Usually in my life, God uses people to confirm something that he's already doing and that he's already trying to speak to me. I find that when God wants to speak something to me, he gets his message to me loud and clear. Now, one way that you can confirm what God is speaking to you is to remember that God's voice never contradicts his written word to us. So anytime you hear God's voice or anytime you think you hear God speaking something to you, you have to make sure that it aligns with His Word. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church, and I heard this teaching many times, but it was always in the context of doing wrong. So God will never tell you to lie or cheat or steal, because that goes against His Word. And no matter how godly your best friend is, if they tell you it's okay to have an affair, they're wrong, because that doesn't line up with God's Word. But when it comes to hearing God's voice, we also need to rem that he uses His Word to speak to us. And there are so many amazing things that God is wanting to speak straight to your heart from His Word. That's why you have to make a regular practice of reading His Word on your own. As I close today, I want to read a few passages straight from God's Word over you. These are things that I believe God wants to speak to you today. You are loved. Romans 8, 38 and 39 says, For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any other powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. He wants you to know that you are valuable. Matthew 6:26 says, look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? You're God's child. First John 3:1 see what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God, and that is what we are. You are chosen, 1st Peter 2:9 but you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness and into this wonderful light. You're not alone. Isaiah 43 says, do not fear, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name, and you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze, for I am the LORD your God. And finally, God is for you. Romans 8:31 says, what then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us as we close our time together? Today I want to tell you that yes, there are times when God's spirit convicts me and shows me an area of my life where I need to repent and make a change. And there are moments when I feel like I need to step out on faith and do something that makes me feel unsure or uncomfortable. Maybe joining this group was a moment like that for you. But even in those moments, God always speaks to me with kindness and gentleness and patience. God's voice does not bring shame or condemnation or discouragement. Those voices in your head that constantly remind you of your mistakes, hear me say, that is not God. God's voice is specific and comforting and encouraging. Hey, thanks for watching. I hope that that encouraged you today. Make sure that you subscribe so that you don't miss out on other video like this and I'll see you back here next time.
