So let's dive in and discover the transformative power of homeopathy in your everyday life. Hi, everybody, and welcome to another live session here on homeopathy and home prescribing. And today we're going to be talking about morning sickness. So many, many people suffer morning sickness during pregnancy. And today we're going to cover some of the top seven remedies for morning sickness. Now these aren't just the remedies for morning sickness, there's a lot more. I've just brought it down to seven of the top remedies for morning sickness. And what is morning sickness? Well, nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, often known as morning sickness, is very common, especially in early pregnancy. Now, even though the word morning sickness sounds like it's just in the morning, it can be any time of the day or night and you can feel sick all day long. So people really, really suffer with this. Some people don't suff at all, but you tend to find people have a little bit of it. So it's unpleasant and it can make you, it can really affect your day to day life and normally clears up by week 16 or to 20 of your pregnancy and it doesn't put the baby at any increased risk. But sometimes you can get a severe type of morning sickness and this can be serious. And there's a chance you might get enough fluids in your body because you're vomiting so much and get dehydrated or getting nutrients from your diet. So I would say you need to get specialist treatments. Sometimes people even hospitalize with it. But for chronic, you know, try these remedies, these top remedies, remedies. If they don't work, they can always seek the advice of a qualified practitioner. Okay, so let's get into some of these remedies. So the first remedy is cocculus. Now we talked about cochlear before when we talked about insomnia in the previous videos. So with cocculus, this is nausea and faintness from vomiting and from becoming cold or taking cold. Okay, so the words from cold and they have nausea from the thought or sight of food and drink. One of the keynotes cochlear can have during this nausea and vomiting. Morning sickness. They can have a metallic taste in the mouth. They taste like metal in the mouth. And they have a loss of appetite, they don't want to eat. They'll be retching and vomit of sour, bitter sort of discharge. Well, not discharged, but it's bitter and it's foul. And it will smell horrible as well. It'll smell rancid. Often they have a sensation where they have nausea that they feel it in the head or rises to the head. And often they can have dizziness and vertigo. Okay, dizziness and vertigo. And they will have thirst without any desire to drink. So they'll say they're thirsty, but actually they don't have any desire to drink. They're often quite weak. Worse from loss of sleep, as we know when we did this, insomnia, worse for any exertion, any physical exertion. And worse traveling in the car. So that morning sickness can be worse in the car. I know they could be driving to work in the morning and dropping the kids off. And it really aggravates them. They have to stop the car because it's the motion makes them feel sick. Better for sitting still or lying quiet in a warm room because they're very, very, very chilly. So that's the remedy, Cocculus. Okay, I said not in particular order. This is alphabetical. Next remedy is ipecac. Now this has a longer name to it, but we often known it as ipecac. I think that's your definition of it, or the meaning of it is the weed on the side of the road that makes you vomit. So with ipecac, this is a big sickness and nausea remedies, constant nausea and desire to vomit. And they're not better for it. Okay, so sometimes you're better for vomiting. They feel better. People feel relieved, they do not feel better from vomiting at all. And immediately after vomiting they want to vomit again and again. You just don't feel any better. And they have great disgust and loathing for any sort of food. So they have no appetite at all. And again, nauseous form, smell of food. If they smell filled, they feel sick. But also they get to feel sick if they see anything moving, moving objects moving around. Oh my God, they have to close Their eyes, they can't bear to see it. Also they'll have retching after drinking anything cold. So they drink anything cold and they retch from it. So they're definitely worse for that. And they have this sensation in the tummy, like it's very relaxed, like it's hanging down, as though the stomach is hanging there. Sometimes you describe it as a sinking sensation in the stomach. Another keynote for ipecac is that they have a lot of saliva, profuse saliva in the mouth, drawing. When they feel sick, sometimes they have to spit it. I've had patients where they come with a little cup and they're spitting into the cup, which is also another condition as well, which you can get through early pregnancy. Desire for fresh open air, thirstless with the nausea and better for rest. Okay, they feel better for rest, better for closing their eyes. Remember said the worst for any moving object, better for closing their eyes, worse for warmth. Whereas we just found coccus is better for warmth, worse for vomiting, worse for lying down. Okay, so again, it's important, as we talked about before, to know the keynotes and the modalities. What makes people better, what makes them feel them worse, what's the sensation like? They feel all really important because this is what. How you differentiate between the remedies, which remedy to give. Okay, so let's look. Next remedy is lactic acid, again as a homeopathic remedy. Again, you won't find this in the health food stores, but you may be able to order it from a health food store or from a homeopathic pharmacy. But I had to mention lactic acid acid because it's such a great remedy. So this is nausea and vomiting on waking. And they'll say before they get up, like the line in bed or when they get up, almost like as soon as they open their eyes, they feel sick, they feel nauseous, and after breakfast, after they've eaten, then it sort of goes off. It's not severe, but very persistent for days. So this is not severe nausea, but just goes on and on and on for a number of days. And they describe it like seasickness. They feel like there's seasickness or as though they want to. And they can have hot, acrid belching and burning or heartburn. Okay, they describe this heartburn or burning. And again, they have a lot of saliva during the nausea, but with what's called water brush. Now this is a very old fashioned term. Water brush is like they regurgitate water into their mouth. It's not sick into the mouth, but It's. It's like water into the mouth. They regurgitate it. But again, as I said, better for eating breakfast. So once they eat, they feel better. So again, this is how you differentiate between the remedies. Next remedy. One of our favorites, I think it's come up in every single video we've done so far is nux vomica. So nux vomica awakes with nausea in the morning with a sour taste in the mouth. And the really worst nux vomica in the morning. Mornings are the worst for nux vomica. You don't want to, you know, it's like you often will avoid a nux vomica because they're so irritable, okay? They're so irritable. It's like they just want to be in their own space. They need to their own thing. They don't want to be disturbed often. So imagine this with nux vomicant. When they're pregnant or have morning sickness, they feel so bad. They feel so bad, they feel that they're going to die with this nausea, deathly nausea, with this sour taste in the mouth. It's like that is faced sort of sour nausea and vomiting with much retching. So they're really a retching, really forceful retching. And they do feel better if they vomit. So they feel better for vomiting. That's almost like they want to vomit. Because if they vomit, they know that they will feel better, but often they can't. So it's like this won't come out. And can also have a headache as well. They have headache with the nausea or the vomiting. But also often if they've become pregnant or they found out they're pregnant, often they may stop drinking the coffee or the alcohol or any stimulants. So often they're in withdrawal from these things because nux vomica is worse, you know, for giving up these things. It's like that craves coffee and crazy stimulants. So they often can have a headache as well. But they'd be very angry, very irritable and very impatient. So remember that. Angry, irritable and impatient. You can't do anything for them. And they can also have an overactive mind. They're thinking, I've got all this stuff to do. I've got to. I've got to go to work. I've got to sort this out, I've got to go. All this. So they have a very overactive mind, which they find very difficult to relax and calm down. They can't switch off. And the worse for noise, any noise. Worse for cold, because the chilly. And they feel worse for any. Any pressure of clothes on the waist. They want to sort of. They want to loosen the clothes on the waist. Better for naps, better for free discharges. In other words, better for vomiting, better for resting, better for warm drinks. So we had some Remy's that are better for cold. This is better for warm drinks. And they're very, very chilly, so they like to wrap up warm, okay? They're very, very cold. So that's nux vomica. Next remedy is pulsatilla. Again, another remedy. We've mentioned many of these videos now and sessions. Nausea and vomiting with pale face and chilliness, very pale and chilly. And they often crave things in the morning which later disagrees with them. So they can crave pastries and they can be worse for pastries or they crave some sweet things, but then they feel worse afterwards and they can have headaches, like a pulsating headache, bursting on the right side with morning sickness, okay, Headaches with morning sickness. And the stomach, the sensation feels like a stone, like there's a stone in the stomach, like it's just sitting there. Or they eat something and they feel as it just sits there after they've eaten it. But they do have quite a large appetite, okay, so they will want to eat things, but later it doesn't agree with them. And they can crave, you know, all sorts of things. They can be very emotional, as we know with Pulsatilla. So again, looking at these keynotes, very emotional. So they can be very weepy, crying, don't feel going to be a good mother, feel like they're not, you know, nobody's looking after them, that they're going through this all alone. They want to be looked after. Remember, Pulsatilla has a sense of being forsaken, like an abandoned. So again, it's all the hormone changes going on. But people can go into this pulsatilla state and then nausea, which again, these keynotes remember, will be worse. Being in a stuffy room, you know, with no air. They need open air, fresh. They crave cool, fresh, open air. They need it moving around them, you know, the movement of the air. So the worse, if they feel stuffy, they'll feel sick nausea in the stuff they need to go outside or they need to open a window. And they're also worse for hot food, okay, that can make them feel worse as well, nausea. So they'll open all the windows as I said I'll have the fan on. Thirstless. Remember Pulsatella? Thirstless, but better for cold drinks. Okay, they feel better for cold drinks. But again, what's going to key you into this is often all these keynotes we've talked about and also the mental and emotional state. So you can see the opposite nux vomicus. Angry. Oh, I don't want anybody around them. Really, really angry. Oh my God, leave me alone. Pulsatella wants to be weeping, crying and wants to be looked after. So these are all the different states. Okay, next remedy sepia. So with sepia, aversion to the sight of cooking, of food, the smell of food, even the thinking of food, it's like, oh, I can't even bear it. So hypersensitive to smells and odors and has a delusion they can smell something. Oh, who's, who's. Who's cooking that bacon or who's cooking that veggie burger? Whatever the smell is like they can smell things. It's almost like that. Like they can start imagining smells, but they're very hypersensitive to smells. They can smell it a mile away. Somebody opens a bucket of crisps in a restaurant or cafe and they can smell it straight away. Very, very hypersensitive. Again, nausea in the morning before eating and when they vomit it. But like this, this milky fluid, this bile milky fluid. When they vomit and cannot vomit after eating, they can feel very faint and weak with the nausea. Not better with eating. Let's say we had other members which were better for eating. Can be irritable and depressed and weepy and have aversion to loved ones like the partner or the kids. They'll keep away, just keep me away from me. Not like the nux vomica, which full on. But it's this hormonal change. Remember, sepia is worse for any hormonal changes, be it after childbirth, pregnancy, the contraceptive pill, any, any sort of hormonal changes. They're worse for, but often be quite depressed from it. And down they feel down and flat, probably flat's a good word for cp. They feel very flat again, chilly, worse cold air. And nausea again, is worse on waking and when lying on the side. Okay, they're lying on the side. But they're better for warmth. Again, like nox are better for warmth. So again, you can see how sometimes they're quite similar. Some of the characteristic symptoms. This is why it's our job to differentiate between them. So when we're asking questions like what makes it Better. What makes it worse? This makes you be able to sort of tune into the right remedy for the person. Now the last remedy I'm going to mention is again, you won't get this in the, in the health food store. This is, this is from, you'll get this from a homeopathic pharmacy if you order it and it's the remedy courts. It's a bit of a mouthful. Symphoricarpus. Okay, now this is I think snow berry, snow road, snowberry. And this is a. I wanted to mention this because this is a good remedy. When you've tried all the different remedies, nothing seems to work. This is really is a good specific remedy for nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. And this is useful for persistent, persistent vomiting, persistent nausea, persistent violent retching and again this deathly nausea. Worse for any motion. And they have an aversion and disgust to all food. They can't all food they don't want to touch. Pugnant to them. The smell, the thought, it's like off the scale. So this is like your worst morning sickness that you can imagine. So the worst for the odor of food, motion on rising, you know, if any movement at all or getting up out of bed. The only things that makes them better is lying flat on the back. They do not want to move, it's that bad. And they can often as well. Latinx1 we can have a bitter taste in the mouth but I wanted to put this one in there because it's a very small remedy but it's a really good little remedy to know when they said you've tried everything else doesn't seem to have worked. Go for this remedy because this is a very, very, very good remedy. I've used it many, many times and it's a great little tip for you in morning sickness. So that was my top seven remedies. What did we cover? We covered cocculus. It's always getting me now to remember what we've covered. Coccul, lactic acid, nux vomica, pulsatillus, sepia. And our final remedy there, symphomocarpus. So use them please or suggest them to people that are suffering. Remember, homeopathy is safe, it's effective, you can use it in pregnancy, there's no side effects, no harm will come to the mother or child. Very, very safe. Take many, many people take homeopathy during pregnancy and as I've mentioned many times, I run a mother and baby clinic for many years. I've treated a lot of pregnant women over the years. And it can be so, so effective because, you know, that early excitement of discovering that you're pregnant, say you've been wanting to get pregnant, and then the morning can make it really miserable for people. So this is when you see homeopathy working really, really well because what the remedies do is stimulates the body to heal itself. Okay? It will help it. It will help. It will bring relief to people. So that's why you've always, to me, got to suggest it. And I know a lot of midwives and independent midwives suggest homeopathy for pregnancy, but also for childbirth as well. And postpartum, as I talked about in postpartum. Homeopathy is so, so good in pregnancy. In fact, we have a thing called the tissue salt program, cell salts or tissue salts, which we give at the different trimesters and the different months of pregnancy, which help with also mother and child. You know, it helps with, you know, varicose veins. It can help with indigestion and the mother or stretch marks. Or we can use remedies for the development of the child. So maybe we'll do a session on the tissue salts, the 12 tissue salts that you can give during pregn, which is really, really, really useful. So again, I say try this, suggest these remedies. Again, very, very, very effective. As I said, these are seven remedies. What I think you need to know, that's why I want to put that last remedy in there, because that's a really good little tip to know. But generally you'll find that people will respond to those Polycrest remedies, these big Polycrest remedies. But remember to do your clams now next time I'm going to do a video on the clams method. How do you get the remedy? You know, I've talked about clams a lot, but I'm actually going to do a session just on prescribing. And I'm going to mention potency in there as well, the principles. But I think it's a really good thing that you do know these clams, which is concomitant location, etiology, modality, sensation. How do you take an acute case with somebody? It's really important to know. It should become second nature to you. So that's what's the next session I'm going to do that on is on taking of the case of an acute case for home prescribers. So, okay, so I hope that was useful and I look forward to seeing the next time on our next session. And yeah, please prescribe. Share the knowledge of homeopathy far and wide.
