Welcome to the Homeopathy at Home podcast. I'm Marcus Fernandez and I'm thrilled to have you join me on this journey into the world of homeopathy. This podcast is inspired by my book, Homeopathy at Home, which aims to empower you to take charge of your health using simple, effective homeopathic remedies. Together we're going to explore how homeopathy can be the key to unlocking your body's innate healing wisdom. Whether you're dealing with everyday ailments such as coughs, colds, strains and sprains, sore throats, or just seeking to enhance your health and well being, this podcast is your guide. So let's dive in and discover the transformative power of homeopathy in your everyday life.
In some part of our life, you may have already been affected by grief or you know somebody who has. And this is where homeopathy can be so effective in these acute stages of grief as well as chronic stages. But today we're just going to do the acute stages. So the first remedy we're going to do of the top five is Ignatia. So Ignatia is one of our top remedies for grief. And this is often grief after losing a person. Or again, I've seen it in people losing jobs or their businesses or relationships. Those are very dear to them. And with Ignatia, what you find, they can be very distressed, very tearful, very highly emotional, without bursts of sobbing, like spasmodic sobbing. And that can alternate with being controlled, trying to keep the emotion in, trying to keep it in, trying to control it. Sometimes they call it silent grief, but often they can have deep sighing and they're unaware of it. Often. But this is all part of that grief. Do you ever hear that deep sighing? Very much a big keynote of Ignatia. So they can alternate these states. They can be sobbing, really upset and then they stop and then they can try to control it, or they can be crying one moment or they can be laughing the next and crying again. It's sort of these alternate state with Ignatia also, one of the keynotes of Ignatia is sensation of a lump in the throat. So they can have a sensation of a lump in the throat. So they feel that they can't swallow. There's something, something stuck there. And this is often again, it's the grief, it's the mind, body connection. It's like there's something there and they've got this lump in the throat. They can't, they want to keep swallowing to get relief from it as well. Ignatia, they can have insomnia with grief. They just can't sleep. They'll sleep a little bit, then they're awake, and then they go back to sleep. It's just like they just can't sleep properly because almost I've got this overactive nervous system. With Ignatia, the nervous system is overreactive. And often you'll find the worst for coffee. So if the worst for anything that stimulates that, also worse for tobacco smoke. Remember when we did. When we did anxiety, we talked about that. They're very sensitive to tobacco smoke. And the worst for being consoled. They don't want to be consoled. Often they want to just be alone with it. Better for swallowing, as we talked about the lump. And they feel better for pressure. Okay, better for pressure. Just generally they feel better for pressure. So that's Ignatia. Big, big remedy for grief. Next remedy is nature Muir. Now, nature, Muir is often called the deeper Ignatia. So this can be grief from loss, deep disappointment and rejection. Now, Ignatio is sensitive, but with nature, Muir goes very deep. It goes really goes into the heart. And often what nature mule do, they shut down emotionally. It's like they build a wall around the heart and they'll shut down emotionally and they become quite stoic, quite closed. And they do not want to talk about their feelings, okay? They do not want to talk about it. So you may try to talk about it. They don't want to talk about it. And often what they do, they'll keep themselves busy. They'll keep themselves busy, so they'll get busy. Say somebody has lost a relative, a loved one. They're the ones that will organize the funeral. They're the ones that will throw themselves into something. And people go, oh, yeah, they're my rock. They're my God, they've been such a rock. But what people don't see is actually they go home and they will cry alone. They won't cry in front of others, but they'll cry alone. And actually, with nature and Muir, if you go to give them a hug, which they don't like, but if you did, it'd be very, very, very sort of stiff. They do not like that close contact. So they will cry, but they'll only cry when they're alone. Or sometimes they'll cry in front of. If they're watching a sad film, the tears will come, but they don't need to see them cry. So they'll go off and they will take themselves and remove themselves. So you don't see them crying. So like Ignatia, the words for being consoled consolation. They don't want to be consoled and get quite angry about it if you persist. Okay, get quite angry about it. So they want to push you away. Better for open air. So they feel better in open air and often worse for heat, particularly the heat of the sun. But the better open air. And one of the keynotes for nature, Muir, is that they crave salt. They crave salt or they crave salty food. So they may have like craving nuts or crisps or something with salt on them or olives or anything that's salty. So they can crave salt. So this could be on the keynotes which get you into that remedy. And also this is a really good remedy for long standing grief. This is grief which you could give chronically or it could be repeated griefs. It's like they've had a lot of griefs one after the other and now they go in more to that shutdown state. So let's look at the next remedy which is phosphoric acid. She really good picture of a phosphoric acid person. So with a phosphoric acid person that needs this remedy, they have grief with apathy, exhaustion and weakness. And there's like lack of emotion. So when you're speaking to them, it's like just talk in a very monotone way. They don't really. There's nothing in their voice. It's like. It's like when I that's completely overwhelmed and traumatized by their grief. And they have dullness of mind and seem quite spacey. So you're talking to them, they seem quite spacey. It's like the lights are on but there's nobody home. A really good expression for phosphoric acid. The lights are on but there's no body home. And they're indifferent to everything. They don't want anything, so they can lose their appetite. They just want anything. Or you're around them. They're aversion to people around them, loved ones, anybody. They don't really want anybody around. They want to be left alone. And this can also sit there staring into space. But a lot of weakness, a lot of apathy and great exhaustion. And they better for a short nap. So if they have a short nap they may feel better for a while when they can feel worse again, but they can feel better and they're better for warmth as well. So there were some cold drafts, want to be warm and the worst for being talked to. They don't just don't want to be talked to. It's like, it's just too much. They can't take it in the head, in the brain. But this is emotional, really emotional. Cause that's got them into the state. So as I said, they can have a loss of appetite. They don't want anything. But they can crave fizzy drinks. So they can crave Coca Cola. And by coincidence, you look at a lot of fizzy drinks, let's say can of Coca Cola. It will say phosphoric acid. So they're craving. They're craving it. Or they can crave juicy things or like fruit or anything that's refreshing. They can crave. And that's phosphoric acid. This is such an amazing remedy to give and see that transformation pretty much within a couple of hours. They can. After taking this remedy, they can feel a lot better. And often you'll find where people take the remedies. You may have experienced this already. And this happens particularly in children, where you'll give them the remedy and they'll fall asleep. They'll fall asleep pretty much straight away after taking the remedy. That's always a good sign because the body now is doing the healing. So let's look at the next slide. So the next slide is pulsatilla. So pulsatilla is often grief from abandonment. So they feel forsaken. They've had this forsaken feeling they've been left. Could again, could be a relationship, could feel abandoned by the death of a loved one. They just feel like they've been abandoned, but they feel forsaken. And they can have very changeable moods, can be very sad, tearful, but highly sensitive. They're highly sensitive to the slightest thing you may say to them. You may say to them and they go. And they easily move to tears. How could you say that? Well, I didn't mean it. I was just referring. And they get very sensitive, weeps very easily, whether it's joyful or sad. I mean, these generally pull stiller people in the state, whether it's the get good news or the sad, that they will weep very easily. It's like, is this always on the verge? And they can argue sometimes talk without weeping. So the floods of tears has come. So they feel abandoned. They feel unlovable as well. And they crave affection. And so with a pulsatilla, you want to hug a pulsatilla, you want to look after a pulsatilla, and they crave that affection. They want to sit on Your, you know, sit with you or sit near you. They want it that they want that closeness. And also they want the attention. So they're craving the affection. They're craving the attention, also the sympathy. So were you looking after them? You're saying the right things and you're looking after them. And they desire and crave the company. They don't want to be left alone. They want to be looked after. So they're better for being consoled. Opposite to Ignatia and nature Muir, where they're averse to it, Phosphoric acid doesn't want it either and don't even really care if you're around or not. But with Pulsatilla, they want it. They want to be consoled, want to be hugged, want to be fussed over. And they're better for cool, fresh, open air. Now, what does that mean with Pulsatilla is that they want the windows open or they want that air coming in or the door open. They want the flow of air coming in. They're definitely worse for stuffy rooms. So if you ever get that where.
People, I can't breathe.
I can't breathe. Open a window. It's like, that's often Pulsatilla. You're going to open the window. But again, another key note for Pulsatilla is they are thirstless, okay? They're thirstless. They don't want. They don't want to drink. They don't want anything to drink, okay? So the final remedy which I put in there is Rescue Remedy, because people often forget about Rescue Remedy, but this is one of the easiest remedies you can get hold of, like all the remedies I've mentioned today and get it from a health food store. Phosphoric acid, you probably have to order it from a pharmacy or your health food store. But the rest you can. You can get Rescue Remedy you can get in most health food stores. And what I love about rescue remedies, people can use it for so many different uses. We mentioned it in Anxiety, but I'm mentioning today because it is so effective and for people to take. And they. People seem to love Rescue Remedy. They'll carry it around with them in the bag or in the car, and it's something they can use a lot. So Rescue Remedies, a blend of five of the original 38 back flower remedies developed by Edward Bach. He was a doctor turned homeopath and he put together with Rescue, we have all the different 38 backflower remedies. But he put together these five, which is rescue Remedy. So there's Rock Rose which is good for terror or panic. Impatiens, which is helps with irritation and impatience. Clematis, which aids in attentiveness and lack of focus. Star of Bethlehem, which is the key for this, for the Grief, which is for shock and grief. And Cherry Plum which assists with irrational thoughts and lack of self control. So using Rescue Remedy is just such a great general one to use when you don't know what to give or you're speaking to a friend or members of the family. They can go down to the local health food store and pick that up and just take it. Okay. This is if you can't, you don't really know what to give them or they can get it easily or they have it in the house. I think everybody should have Rescue Remedy in the house is such an effective, effective remedy to have. So there you go. We've gone through the top five. There's lots of remedies for grief and especially chronic grief. But I just want to mention the top five. So we talked about Ignatia where you have that alternating characteristics in some minute the sobbing and can be quite hysterical. Next minute they're trying to hold it all in but they're sighing with it. Number two, nature and mirror, which the grief all can go in very deeply and they tend to shut themselves down and they don't want to talk about it and become very stoic and keep themselves busy. But can crave salt. We talked about phosphoric acid which where the grief goes in they just completely exhausted and weakness and they just go into a state of collapse where they can be completely averse to consolation people around them but pretty much remember the lights are on but nobody's home. But they crave refreshing things, particularly fizzy drinks. Okay. And then you've got Pulsatella, which is the abandoned. Feels forsaken, wants to be hugged, wants to be looked after, wants to be fussed over but is worse for being shut in in the stuffy room. Better for open air, better for consolation but incredibly weepy. So much weepy they'll cry at the drop of a hat. And then funny Rescue Remedy which is just a general good grief remedy. So I hope, I hope that was that was useful just to go over those that those five remedies. And again, please put in the comments box. Is there anything that you want you'd like me to cover in the future because I'm here to serve you. I want to know what you'd like to have A really brief synopsis of some top remedies for different things that I can do. So please do put in the conception. You'd have to do it now. You can do after also come on as well and after this live session and answer any questions you have. But, but please, these remedies are so important to use and it can help people so much. I can really, because to me, what remedies do, they take you back to the position where you can decide again. So you'll take the remedy. You'll see things more clearly. Remember, grief is. It's, it's a process. It is a process and it helps with that process. It helps with that process. I've seen it of the past 30 years of being a practitioner and people in the most work horrendous situations of grief and loss that I've seen because I've worked all over the world in different places, and homeopathy can be so effective and often what it does, it stops it going into more of a chronic state. But so I see people in a chronic states in my practice who have been in grief 20, 30, 40, 50 years and they've got stuck in that place of grief and they've never got over it. Now they're not in that acute state, but they've never got over it. So for example, nature and mule that something's happened to them and they've never got over it. And they may have had a relationship, say 20 years ago and they've never had a relationship since. Why? Because they never want to be hurt like that again. So they throw themselves into work or they throw themselves into something which is not emotional. So often by dealing with these acute states, you can prevent it going much more deeper within the person.
