What to do if there's a hearing aid emergency. Usually hearing aids are not something that you have emergencies for, but let's say you're getting ready to go somewhere, hearing aid doesn't seem to be working. The very first thing I want you to do is clean the hearing aid, change the dome and the filter, brush off the hearing aid, make sure that everything is free and clear, make sure that the charger was plugged in, or maybe try a different outlet. Try to charge the hearing aids and see if any of those steps basically fix the problem. If the hearing aid still doesn't seem to be working, call your provider. Some will have loaner devices for you to use in the interim, some will charge a small fee for that, every practice is going to be a little different. Also a good question to ask when you first get your hearing aid is, "What happens if I need to send the hearing aid for repair?" Those are all good things that help you be more prepared and more confident and less worry for any of the things that do come up in, in real life.
