So let's talk about the pitches. So bass versus treble. Those bass or low-pitched sounds are what we hear for volume. It tells— it gives us the vowel parts of sounds but doesn't give us a ton in the way of clarity. So did somebody say that what time is it or what kind is it? The I is very, very strong there, but we don't— may not hear the T and the K. Those are higher-pitched sounds. So now let's think about the high pitch. That's clarity in words, but it's also the tinny sound. So it's the part that you say, "Oh my gosh, hearing aids are so hard to get used to and it sounds so bad," but those are also the sounds that not only go away first, but they're the most critical sounds to hear, so there's a balancing act. So it may be that we start those a little lower, but keep in mind, if you're starting them a little low, your clarity's not where it needs to be as quickly. All of that kind of comes full circle. So we'll get you there, we'll get you there, I promise. It's all part of the process and the rehabilitation journey that you're on. So don't give up. It's okay, hearing aids get better. The key is always, what is it? What do I always say? The best hearing aid for you is the hearing aid you wear, the hearing aid you wear every day.
