Personal Lines Endorsements

A practical how-to from Hunter Nelson on processing personal-lines endorsements in insurer portals. The video demonstrates live navigation of carriers (Progressive, Travelers and others), emphasizes rigorous documentation (phone calls, texts, emails), shows how to retrieve ID cards and view Snapshot/claims/driving records, and explains endorsement details like requester fields, backdating limits, prorate vs. rate increases, and syncing notes/tasks into IVANS. The speaker previews a follow-up on commercial/trucking endorsements.

All right, let's get into how to endorse policies here. Okay, so obviously, documentation is a massive, massive, massive detail here. I don't care if you're. If you get somebody calling, thinking about adding a car, they're like, hey, what if I bought a Lamborghini? What would you know? What would that look like? I still want you to document that, even though nothing happens and you guys are just talking about imaginary cars you might buy. So document everything. Every phone call, every think about every actual change, All. All sorts of stuff. Okay, let's do. Let's do something here that's basic to get started off. Let's do somebody like Jackie Extrom. Okay, so hopping into progressive. This is where most. Most of our personal auto policies are. You're going to happen to here. You're going to see the policy effective date. Oh, I just. Okay. You're going to see. Learn about their progress on Snapshot. So see real quick how they're doing on Snapshot. Snapshot is the telematics app in there. Your results are in. Opted out. Opted out. Opted out. So obviously, nobody really got the discount. So, yeah, you can go in here, kind of dive around, see what that stuff looks like. Obviously, most of them didn't even enroll, which is why the premium went up. She paid a full. She's not enrolled. Well, she use. Is using eft, so just ignore that. She has a paperless. You can see the drivers on here. If you click on driving records, you can see their driving record. So you can see zero points. That means that this. This is not being rated against them. I got a small claim here. Oh, Graceland has got a lot of really bad stuff. It is being rated against her. It is being rated against her. This stuff is not. It is just being recognized as all being rated against. Being rated against. Oh, my goodness. That was very recently and still being rated against her. So you can see claims on that sense. So somebody's like, oh, I'm gonna Google, go up. Well, you can go looking right there and say, huh, we literally just had an actual tax in two months ago. So, you know, one would think we have three vehicles. You can see the current coverage. No accidental death or disability income. It really should be. She has 500,000 combined single limit for coverages here. Thousand deductible. No rental reimbursement, no roadside. So if somebody were to do an endorsement, okay, I would walk them through, just say, hey, you know, let's. Let's say it's somebody you talk to a lot like Jack. Let's Say I know I talk to Jackie like but if you're a customer service person, you know, you talk to them a lot. You have to repeat the coverages every single time. Right. But first I'm talking to somebody, I haven't talked to somebody in a while. Say perfect, here's coverages just confirm exactly what you have right now. You have no roadside, no birth reimbursement. You get thousand dollar deductibles, $500,000 in liability and physical to earn and property damage. So if that sounds good at you, perfect, we're good. You know, obviously I, I didn't say vehicle protection and stuff like that, but you probably should. But yeah, when you're just getting done with, with the endorsement, going to confirm it. So I don't want to do anything because it's going to actually send her an email with the endorsement. But here I can click add the endorsement if I go back. You don't want to back date. You know the only time you really can back days if you add a vehicle. And sometimes you have to have a reason. So like on commercial policies it's a very, very strict there. If you say agent error, do not ever do. That's a massive red flag in their system, Kev. So most, most time you cannot back date. I put the requester which is you know who's, who's requesting this change, the agent name, the agent of the policy or the customer service person on the policy. So like if I sold this policy. But for example, Morgan is CSR here where to make the change. Morgan will put her name, you can put the policyholder name and then you put nature name and you can just do that for some confirmation. So that's the basics of making changes there, how to change vehicles, how to change drivers, all that stuff. If I want to download ID cards or anything on these lines, I literally just go here, click on ID cards. I can save print, I can mail them to her house right now. So super easy stuff. A lot of companies do not have as techy of systems as progressive. So I'm going to show you guys how, I'm going to pause the video, show you guys how to get an ID card with travelers. Because there's a pain. I'm going to show you guys here. Travelers Travel is very similar to like National General, I believe American, not American Modern Midwest, him and Mutual, a lot of the other auto cares. So you're going to search client here. So let's do Wagner, they're based out of Minnesota. Okay, give me a second here. All Right. I'm not sure but we got Roger person here. So you can see all those policies and everything. See the renewals, close transactions, so changes that have been made in the past. I'm going to go to account list and then right here I can see his billing, I can see some of his policy details, claims reports, everything. But if I just want ID cards and basic information going to go to policy documents. Here's the renewal policy and then I've got a change. So let's see if the change was a vehicle, it'll show ID cards here. If not, well it doesn't look like it was. It will not show ID cards. So let's go to the renewal policy. There you go, there is his ID card right there. And so then get the whole WAP and policy. Basically I'm going to go to print custom page. Looks like we're just printing page three and four. Boom, there you go, there's your ID card. It's pain, but that's what some of this tech, you know, is that you had to deal with. Middleton Mutual is kind of the same way. National General's not too far far off either. So there's some of the basic stuff. We pull this up here real quick. So again like yeah, here's the policies. P PAF is personal artifacts folder like a specified inland marine policy. So then you can just click on them and select the type of change or make. But I don't want to do that and then I'm just going to click cancel here. One thing to note is if you guys are doing some of these changes, do not get mixed up with prorate and the actual rate increase. An example of this is I have my E and O insurance. I renewed it today, but on Wednesday I asked by Burke to bump my limits from 1 million to 3 million and tell me what the price would be. It said 77. We're not paying $5,000 for one million dollar limits. I know that probably doesn't make sense. And so what they, what the, the bright, the bright person who emailed me back was doing was they were telling me the prorated amount for the next freaking four days or whatever it was of the policy period. Don't, don't get confused on stuff. Don't tell people provided amounts. Say here's either what your monthly increase is going to be or here's a yearly increase. Probably just be easier to say here's your monthly increase because that's all people care about and it's a smaller number anyway. So say your monthly bill Is going to go from 150 to 170. Keep things easy, but do not get mix up. Pro rate progress or travelers definitely does pro rate on all their stuff there. So there's that stuff, you know, you're. I'll show you guys how to document. I'll create different systems for that. But yeah, I mean knowing know the underwriting guidelines. So I gotta have. I'm gonna have a care. I'm gonna have carrier and industry knowledge. So go look at that to understand, you know, the guidelines. Like, hey, am I able to just choose this policy and make this change on this policy? That's the personal lines auto. I'll show you guys home here. Well, home's basically the same thing. Home's pretty cake. If you guys figure out the audience. Forget the home. I'm gonna do a trucking section and then I'm going to show you guys. Well, let me just do this. I'll document. So once you get done with making a quick endorsement like that, you're gonna go document everything, right? Personal lines use Ivans. So a lot of the information, like let's say you go swap out a 2015 Chevy with the 2014 Ford, whatever, right. The new vehicle just got swapped out is going to pop up in there as the new vehicle on the list. So Ivan's is going to pull this into the driver information or the. The AMS here and then you're going to document everything. So I documented my emails to these carriers confirming that, you know, I. I asked for them to add this and then I document the email saying that they did add it. Garrett attached new driver MVR or Hunter attached new driver and V to the file. Hunter told Garrett to let him know if he wanted to add the driver. Garrett texted okay, G. Request removed two drivers that were never added to the policy. Hunter's leaving the policy as is. You know, like this was just a was three text on back and forth with. With the insured. Just a. Just interesting deal. So document everything. I'll show you guys how document commercial lines in the next video here. But personal lines, most of the stuff's going to update. If you're doing something with Roberts or a carrier who doesn't download. Yes. Go in there, make sure the coverages are up to date. Make sure the carrier is up to date. Make sure everything's good. But you're going to go add a note. You're literally just going to go right here, click add new. You can make it a sticky note if you want. You can add a reminder. You can do an sms, you have send out a text message, whatever, and discard this or note. Yes. And the last thing is task. You know you got your task in here. You know you can document all this stuff. Once this thing's filled out and you complete the task, it actually syncs into the now Swift profile. Never bank on it though. You always want to double check it. But create tasks to keep track of all your endorsements. So that's personalized endorsements. Pretty quick and easy. I'll get into trucking now and we'll go from there.
