Advice from a solo speaker on managing business partnerships by aligning long-term visions and expectations. Recommends jointly creating a three-year vision board to compare professional and personal goals, recognizes that partners have different motivation levels, and cautions against expending energy trying to force others to match your drive—advocating instead for self-focus and choosing partners whose standards align.
Doing a vision board together for where you want to get to in three years. So sitting down together and planning if it's going to be 2022, how do you want to look professionally and personally in your life? So you sometimes thought around flexibility and playing your drums and all of that type of stuff. So making sure that your partner, your business partner knows exactly where you want to get to as well so your goals are aligned. Motivation is different. So like everyone's different in terms of motivation. So some people are more hungry than others and there's nothing more frustrated like when you are a hungry, ambitious person. If someone else in your team isn't that driven because it doesn't really go for them, try not to waste your energy trying to instill that in them. It needs to come from them because it's very hard and energy consuming trying to motivate other people to be like you. So I would recommend just be yourself and focus the energy on everything that you've got and try and align your partners with the same expectation levels or the same standards as you as well that you're always going to learn from, like bringing on partners that's right for you now. But maybe they might not be right for you in two years because you might go off in a different direction. But I definitely sit down, get to know each other for a good day and actually map out exactly where you want to get to in three years to see what goals have aligned and what's misaligned. So at least you know where you are with things. But if someone else isn't as motivated as you, I'm guilty for this. I try and push other people to be as motivated as me and it's, it's a negative effect on both them and you as well because you waste so much energy on it. Sa.
