Don't ask Jesus to get back on the cross #addictionrecovery #god #love

A pastor argues that addicts asking Jesus to remove temptation through the cross actually surrender their power. Instead, speak your identity in Christ aloud to activate the sword of the Spirit and declare Satan a liar. You already have authority over darkness through Christ's work.
Chapters
Spirit, when his Spirit is agreeing with your spirit and you are saying it out loud, you are driving a sword into the enemy. And so there's something supernatural, something spiritual that's happening when you speak the truth out loud about who you are in Christ. The devil wants nothing to do with that. Okay? And so, you know, we tend to in the West think of things in very sort of scientific Western worldview kind of ways, like everything's matter in motion, you know, and so we discount the supernatural. But the supernatural is alive and well, and the Bible talks about it, you know, constantly. Jesus talks about the supernatural. Jesus is casting out demons throughout his entire ministry. And so, and I think it's Luke 10:19, where he says, I have given you all authority over the powers of darkness. And so the problem with Christians is we don't use our authority, right? So let me give you a for instance. So you remember I was telling you that in that 5 years I would pray to Jesus to get me to stop using porn, like, Jesus, take the porn away, right? Do you know what that's actually saying? What I was saying was, Jesus, the cross wasn't enough. I need you to do more work for me. Please get back up on that cross and do more so I can be free of porn. Do you see what we're telegraphing here? How do you think that Satan is feeling about that? He's like, yeah, yes, yeah, that's right. Tell Jesus to get back up on the cross, right? You were in agreement with Satan on that one. Okay, now if you're telling Satan, I already understand the authority that has happened because of the cross. I already understand my identity in Christ, and I'm telling you that you're a liar and you need to go, right? That is a totally different stance, right? And now you're on the offense, right? And so, and by the way, this, the sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon that he gives us.
