they were mad at you and they would send storms and all sorts of horrible things at you if you didn't do the right rituals. What the Bible is showing is that God is separating himself from the other gods and saying that I'm not like that. You already are my children. Like he calls all of Israel a kingdom of priests. They just came from, from Egypt who had these priests who were like wealthy and had all this power and prestige. He called Israel a kingdom of priests. Where everybody's a priest. And so he's raising and elevating the status of every single Israelite to a high status in the kingdom immediately, right? None of it's earned. They have— in fact, they are doing terrible things and denying him and grumbling and complaining and, you know, telling Moses like, what, you brought us out here to die? Like there wasn't enough graves in Egypt. You had to bring us into the desert, you know, like they're doing horrible things and he's still calling them children, right? He's still elevating their status, you know. Anyway, so the character of God is misunderstood in so many ways, and a lot of that drives this, like, pornographic behavior that we go towards because we're soothing ourselves thinking that God doesn't love us.
